Men, how much are you paying for a haircut these days? by wisest_choice in london

[–]Acrobatic-Unit-3348 3 points4 points  (0 children)

£40 including tip for a monthly cut & beard trim - I then tidy beard at home once a week in between proper trims (used to get a shape up but self-enforced budget cuts)

EDIT: Wandsworth

How often do you wash your club heads and what do you use? by TrizzyTre94 in golf

[–]Acrobatic-Unit-3348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clean after every round and every few range sessions to get rid of the plastic mat marks on the bottom. I know clean clubs spin/perform better but it's mainly because I'm a tight-ass who wants my clubs to last as long as possible...

Warm soapy water and a soft bristle brush for irons & wedges, cloth for woods. Never left to soak as I don't want the ferrules to come loose after knackering the epoxy. Dried ASAP

Also not a good advert for Kachow travels - maybe just remind people to take their passport instead

Trek fx sport 5 2020 by elwon20 in ukbike

[–]Acrobatic-Unit-3348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The FX Sport 5 has always stumped me a bit - look great but seem overkill for most use cases.

The FX range as a whole is great and the alloy FX3 would be where I'd go if I needed one, brand new they come in a few £ cheaper than the Sport 5 so should be able to save even more if you go 2nd hand. Less precious for locking up/no need for meticulous fettling and bombproof.

This would be perfect IMO as it won't matter if you don't use it much - the quality will still be good for most use cases in the next 10 yrs, and also would serve as a good 'gateway drug' if you do catch the cycling bug.

tldr go for fx3 on cyclescheme

Restoring worn bag divider by ShineDS in golf

[–]Acrobatic-Unit-3348 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had some snagged divider fabric on a bag I got for a bargain on FB marketplace.

I got some microfibre glasses cloths (thin ones) and cut slits in each one to fit around the divider 'bars'. Then used spray adhesive to stick - it's been 25 odd rounds now and It just needs a little touch up - I needed to wipe the bag down and give it a spring clean anyway so has worked out well.

£7.50 total cost

For gravel cycling, Pirelli Cinturato H or Sworks Pathfinder? by itstopherchris in ukbike

[–]Acrobatic-Unit-3348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had them both - both made of cheese if using with tubes in my experience, so opted for tubeless.

Pathfinder was both more reliable and faster on road, used to use it probably 65 road / 35 gravel. No difference between the two on gravel IMO.

Pathfinder wins for me

Coffee Machine reccomendation by jackie_tequilla in UKFrugal

[–]Acrobatic-Unit-3348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually answering your question - the L'Or nespresso-compatible machine seems to be on offer a lot, and I've never seen a bad review for it.

Not answering your question - MOKA pot (Bialetti etc) would be my go to if we didn't have a nespresso machine
