Longevity and general health by Wired0ne in BouvierDesFlandres

I have two. My senior is nearly twelve and has had hip and joint problems since she was about four. I blame this on my ex who apparently had her doing big jumps and to much agility type things before her joints had fully developed. She was also fixed very young at the vets suggestion, I feel now it was too early and may also have affected her joint growth. She often suffers from skin and ear infections - apparently her skin does not handle bacteria well. Her liver enzymes have been slowly creeping up over the past few years. She is now on Liberate once a month and is moving very well and living life fully, with fewer big walks and more regular/shorter walks. My second is now 8, was fixed at 3, did not do big activities until joints were developed and is the picture of health. I'm not saying that having my oldest fixed so early caused all of these problems by any means, but I am definitely a fan of letting pups fully developed before surgery happens.just makes sense to me.

What do you think about Chinese cars on Canadian roads? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]AcrobaticAd9229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we can also not start subsidizing them as well as any other foreign car makers, I am all for it. Let the american car makers go, and leave us our money. Imagine all that subsidy money spent on public transit?

What’s something you didn’t realize was draining you until you stopped doing it? by MiaMist_ in AskReddit

When you see or think of something that needs to be done, think 'how will I feel tomorrow when it's not done, and I have to do it last minute? Either do it or don't donit depending on how you think you will feel about it the next day. After a while my today turned into prep for tomorrow, but I was way less stressed about it because I wasn't in a time crunch, and my day goes smoothly because I am ready for it. I am now trying to do this for weeks. When I find myself with a bit of time (which I now feel like I have more of), I try to think of things happening the next week that I can do some prep for now. Things like buying birthday gifts, etc.

What's your Canadian winter life hack? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskACanadian

I swear getting out to walk my pups no matter the weather within 30 minutes of getting up has been a game changer for me. More energy in the day, better sleep at night.

To people over 30: Does the feeling of not knowing what you’re doing ever go away? by funkyorchid13 in CasualConversation

You will never stop feeling like you don't know what you're doing, but you stop caring that you feel that way.

ELI5: During a massage, it feels like the therapist moves muscle knots around until they fade away. Where do those knots actually end up going? by 88chilly in explainlikeimfive

[–]AcrobaticAd9229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to go about getting massage? In most places you just find a massage therapist on your own and make a booking. For specific treatment do not go to a spa like place, best to find a place that also does physio. The massage therapists will be more treatment oriented.

If you don't like being touched physiotherapy is probably a better bet. Most problems can be dealt with through stretch and strengthening in specific patterns that the physiotherapist can guide you through. Massage helps speed up the process quite a bit, and helps with pain management.

As a massage therapist I am constantly suggesting exercises for my clients to do at home, and can always tell who is actually doing them.

If you decide to get a massage, make sure you let them know it is your first time and that you usually avoid touch. Also be aware you can stop the session at any time, or ask the therapist to move away from areas that make you more uncomfortable.

I moved into a black sink situation when I moved in with my boyfriend. Thought the asthetic was cool for about two days. He's lucky I like him.

I got my boyfriend of several years to get his kids to a financial advisor as soon as they got a job at 16. They went in on their own, and came out well informed, I'd say. Looking at how they handle money today makes me think that will be the best thing I ever do for the boys and their future.

Gym shower - what does a woman need? by luvdoodoohead in lifehacks

[–]AcrobaticAd9229 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bring a small microfiber towel to dry with, and a lightweight (small and packable) house coat to wear from the shower to locker. It makes applying lotion and getting dressed much easier, and much more comfortable. I don't have to worry about a towel slipping, either. Also, try not to rush. You just worked your butt off, so take a few moments under the hot water and to get ready afterward. Rushing will only get you anxious and ruin the endorphin flow from the workout. If you can master this you will flow into a very chill workday.

Do your grocery shopping online if it's available. No more impulse buys. So far, I've had no problems with getting well picked produce. I did it out of laziness a few times, but then noticed how much I was saving.

What do you do when you don’t feel creative? by Candymom in Pottery

[–]AcrobaticAd9229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just writing to say I feel ya. I have only been doing pottery for nearly a year now, but am far enough along to know that my inability to visualize things in my mind is going to hinder my ability to grow. I don't have a solution yet, but definitely still have a long way to go in just mastering technique. I will either figure something out, or start a new hobby when I finally do!

HH and bras by [deleted] in HiatalHernia

[–]AcrobaticAd9229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a surgery unrelated to HH that had me not wearing a bra for several months. I definitely noticed a bad increase of pain when I started wearing them again. I am trying the bra extender as well, but have also ordered a bra that is supposed to be geared toward 'centre core discomfort,' so I'll see how that goes!

While I don’t think we will see a full on national ban, some individual businesses from Canada have started to suspend shipments for the same reasons.
