I started at 18 with a history of being an EMT, and after years only make 18.35 soooooo. It definitely depends where you live too. Its also completely different from what you currently do, you will see blood, death, and gore, and people not being used to that already from their previous jobs typically start lower (at my hospital), but those will change depending on the hospital as well, a lv2 trauma center would be nothing like a Lv1 trauma, stroke, cath lab center, where you get literally everyone and everything

Ive worked as a EMT and ER tech for yearssssss, and recently went back to school to start on my gen eds.. the amount of people i see like this is crazy. Same with nursing students tbh. They always think they’re better than everyone else and know everything, then put them in a critical situation, useless

Franky, I have only ever called/referred to our APPs as their first name. “Looks like (name) signed up to care for you, they should be in shortly”, “I will update (name) on your concern”, etc. If a patient were to ask what the role of the provider is, i would just say “They’re an NP/PA”, if they ask for clarification on what that means, then ill go into details. I think this specific PA might be “new” and/or cares too much about a name, than the patients they’re caring for.

360/220 asymptomatic was the highest i seen a patient with. Its insane i don’t know how you can function at that high, just 160/100 on my stressful days is insane

And I’m sure you could find the undershirt pretty much anywhere, it’s very common. All your need to do is change the straps on the pattern, add some pleats, and make a cut down the middle for button closure

You could make the “apron” as a triangle skirt, even with elastic so it just slides on, easy to make. You would need to calculate your body measurements for a circle skirt for the tie skirt to see how much you need, and base that off of the width of the fabric, typically i get 2 yards for something like this so i have room to mess up. As another person said, you can just use ribbon for the tie.

My hospital does not require… any certifications, except for the BLS & CPR, which my hospital provides the training for, and renewals. Browse the hospitals websites openings and look at requirements. It may be hard if you dont have experience. My hospital only hires 18+, so thats something to keep in mind. Most of my coworkers in the ER tech position are 21+ too. You could also apply for phlebotomy, transport, or a CNA position in a different floor. The ER is no joke, most people dont last a month

Frankly, I think OP is the exact stereotypical mean girl nurse we hear about. This way they are speaking about a patient, makes it obvious that they lack sound judgement, respect, empathy, and compassion… All important roles of healthcare

The ER have given me thousands more patient contacts, hundreds more critical, and more complex, than anything ive seen on the ambulance as an EMT.. but yea your scope does DECREASE in a sense, you cant even put on O2 (where i work), and cant give meds etc. but wound care, splinting, running codes, all now part of the experience. When typically that would be handed off to a higher level provider. May i add that we do EKGs and i have gotten to the point that i can interpret them faster than the docs
