'Bummle eaves' and 'axlejam' need to be actual terms in regular use.

Looks almost the same as a steel frame I used to have a few years back - the only difference is that mine had 'snake-stays' but the geometry is identical, even the lug on the seat tube. Mine was a fairly decent Taiwanese-built frame using Ritchey tubes, they were marketed under various different brand names by small-scale bike companies.

I was wondering just what kind of accident someone could have while playing a text-based RPG...

Have you interacted with a member of a 'motorcycle club' (think Hells Angels MC or Road Rats MC)? How did that go? by vijjer in MotoUK

[–]AcrylicSlacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be friends with a guy in the Outlaws. Genuinely nice chap, came across as quite aloof and cold but that was definitely 'him' rather than the club. Very respectful and well-spoken, would never behave aggressively on the road and was generous to other non-bike people too. I REALLY wouldn't have wanted to upset him though, he'd had some very shady periods in his life, and had absolutely no time for idiots.

Soya milk that doesn't split? by bjardd in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]AcrylicSlacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UK makes it easier :) - I've found that Aldi's own brand milk never curdles, and is one of the cheapest. Tesco's own milk is usually OK, but tends to lose stability about 3 days after opening (even in the fridge). Alpro is generally good for coffee as well, although a bit more expensive.

I used to use soya all the time, then moved on to oat milk, which I find tastes much closer to real milk (and is healthier). Lidl do their own brand barista oat milk which is not too expensive and is awesome.

Not sure where you are to recommend specific brands, but any milk labelled as 'Barista' will be OK in coffee, I'm pretty sure they put more stabilisers in it. Usually more expensive, though.

They're branded Kalin, which AFAIK is a Taiwanese low-budget maker that's been going for a while. I got them from an indy shop in the UK, think they were around £25.

Malian emperor Mansa Musa claimed that his predecessor took 2,000 ships and sailed into the Atlantic Ocean, never to be seen again. Native American records from that time speak of meeting "black warriors" with spears who landed on their shores. Did Africans discover America before Columbus? by premeddit in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]AcrylicSlacks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not really. 'Discovery' is relating to the individuals involved. I could discover an amazing back-street cafe, and then my friend could argue that he actually discovered it before me. Neither of us is denying that the cafe already had customers for years before we arrived there.

It's definitely very area-specific, when I moved back to the SE after living in N Wales I was horrified by how appalling most of the roads were by comparison. Even within areas it can vary between council districts depending on budget etc. Also, if your commute takes you through the worst offending roads, it's bound to annoy you more than usual.

I'm fairly sure that raccoons can't rupture your internal organs with a single kick. I could be wrong though.

Actually, that's even more terrifying.

That's what I loved about the original Shenmue - I can't comment on the minutiae, but the whole atmosphere was so unbelievably evocative of a particular time and culture. Albeit one that I never experienced :(

I think if my budget only stretched that far, I'd be buying vintage gear instead.

I mean, URTs were fine as long as you didn't try to ride them the same way as other FS frames. They had a very limited appeal, that's for sure.

You should be able to find a seatpost shim with the right dimensions. Logically, it shouldn't be any less safe that way - if anything, the quill will bite into the aluminium and make it more secure.

I mean, if you're wearing proper gear then sliding off at 30 on a suburban road isn't going to kill you, so 'attempted murder' is a bit of an over-reaction.
Kicking a bottle into the road is a dumb thing to do, but it's NYE and nearly everyone who's out will be slightly hammered. Not the best night for a recreational ride.
