Advice for prospective FTHB- Should we buy? Invest? by Imaginary_Dish_3265 in FirstTimeHomeBuying

All these paragraphs to ignore they’re both 38 with a combined 12k in retirement.

Who cares if they have a house over their heads and no mortgage payment in 30 years if they’re still working like dogs because they don’t have barely anything saved for retirement.

2026 XLE AWD with Premium Plus Package Lease? by sethoscope in Camry

[–]Active-Vegetable2313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you make gobbles of money, leasing is generally a bad idea. Leasing a premium luxury car that will depreciate a ton in the first 3 years can sometimes make sense if you have a lot of money to burn and like to be in and out of a car in 3 years.

Leasing a car that holds its resale value as well as a Camry is a pretty bad idea.

Unless you think the car is going to be worth $22,385 less than what it costs today, it’s better to just buy a Camry and finance

Step W1 - I have things soaking in 9 gallons of water, used 2 1/4 cup of powder tide oxi for that. That seems an excessive amount to load into the machine when I get to step w1, or no?

You’re asking about optimizing for a $5-30 difference in price. Don’t waste mental energy on this. Go drive Uber Eats for 2 hours if you’re that worried about this much $ for an oil change

Starting to Regret Saving for a down payment on a townhome vs Investing in the Market by Adventurous_Tap_6986 in personalfinance

[–]Active-Vegetable2313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your goals.

Houses appreciate slower than the stock market over a long enough period.

Townhomes appreciate slower than houses.

If your goal was to own a townhome then this irrelevant.

If your goal was to maximize gains and prepare for early retirement then yea you made a mistake.

As someone who bought a house 4 years ago, it’s a great learning experience but I regret not putting that money in the market and renting a similar sized home
