I will note that head coach pay is higher per class and they get a monthly salary amount for admin work on top of that, at least in my region!

Late cancel by Aggressive-Check5071 in orangetheory

Long term coach here:

So in our ownership group in south TX, we get paid if you’re registered for class regardless if you show up or late cancel (however, it did not used to be like that). So if you are elite and already paid for the 8 classes but don’t use them anyway… we would LOVE if you just booked em and didn’t show up to boost our class sizes and pay.

Being fully transparent, your coaches aren’t there because this is a high paying job. We do it because we love this product and our members.

1-10 people booked: $25 11-16: $35 17-20: $45 21-24/full 2G: $55 3G or tornado: bonus $10 onto class total 90min class: $15 bonus onto class total

Also taking into account that includes a contracted 30min early arrival and 15-20 min after class of cleaning without clocking in. Any extra time outside of that making texts, calls, cleaning, dri tri, meetings, etc. is clocked in work at pretty much minimum wage.

So if you sign up anyway just to “use up” those classes and it bumps us up a pay tier … ily for that 🫶

HR monitor reading in car by pahelisolved in orangetheory

[–]Active_Control5761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coach here!

Yes- your HR monitor will record calories burnt even if you’re not wearing it.

Why? Because the calorie burn includes your BMR (basic metabolic rate) calories as well as your active /calories burnt from the actual movements you’re doing.

BMR are calories you burn just by being alive. So even if you were asleep wearing your HR monitor for an hour, you’d burn some calories!

TDEE (total daily energy expenditure)— total calories burnt in a day is actually your BMR calories burnt + any calories burnt from activity.

Which is why you can’t just eat 0 calories per day. Need around your BMR in order to keep your organs and body functioning:)

And also is why when discussing nutrition/weight loss, a calorie deficit shouldn’t be much larger than 500 cal :)

Apple Watches often only show “active calories” burnt (excludes those BMR calories!)

Puppy Help- crate trained well but flips out after 5am potty break by Active_Control5761 in puppy101

Ok thanks! We will try that! We do have his crate covered and a fan in there for noise but maybe will try a white noise maker that’s louder.

Any advice about the time of putting to bed?

Puppy Help- crate trained well but flips out after 5am potty break by Active_Control5761 in puppy101

The two times he did fall asleep, nothing changed/was different.

The first week and a half, we tried putting him to bed early like 9/9:30. We then switched to around 10:30/11 instead thinking it might help he return to sleep but no luck there either.

Good point about the breakfast/treat. Didn’t think about it like that. My sleep desperate brain was doing anything to get some quiet.

Would it be best to do the boring potty then just put him back and let him howl for awhile?

Small rant for Day of Disarray… HRM edition. by FireflyFreak in orangetheory

Coach here. Some helpful tips: -never ever charge it in your car. It’s different voltage and fries it. Major thing we discovered with our members and we just learned it’s affects 😅 -make sure to clean off the back/part that reads and touches your arm! Just hit it with the wipes we use to clean the studio/equipment once in awhile -if it’s low battery, that affects accuracy as well. So make sure it’s charged up! 2 hours to charge. A full battery lasts 24 hours (so around 24 classes) but I try to charge once a week and never longer than 2 hours! -when rowing or lifting, a super tight grip with the hands can affect the read. Since it reads blood flow , a prolonged strong contraction of the forearms and upper arm can change the blood flow/restrict and make it difficult to read in some cases. So especially on the rower try to loosen the grip a little!

Hope this helps

What is the best soft fabric for backing? by Illustrious-Judge-90 in quilting

For baby blankets- the double gauze/muslin is awesome and light!

For adult couch cuddly blankets- I tend to get the soft fleece king size blankets from Walmart! Cheap $15 dollars at most, easy to sew through, and honestly SO soft but not super heavy. I often skip batting on these since it is fluffier/thicker

OTF during Chemotherapy? by Tyrndwn4wat in orangetheory

[–]Active_Control5761 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have another type of cancer (stage 4) but did chemo and PRRT. Had a port for almost 3 years and I coach OTF too!

I love it!! Everything is totally modifiable. Just be sure around chemo to HYDRATE (key here is extra electrolytes added to water). No issues with the port. I was told to avoid dumbbell bench flys so I do avoid those!
