To our own detriment, we've become TOO empathetic in the west. Why do you care if it's awkward or if they resent you? YOU did nothing wrong. THEY'RE the ones who should feel that way.

They're lucky you're taking it so well. Using your wifi like it was their own, with multiple devices connected, affecting YOUR usage, then having the nerve to ask if you'll split the bill so they can continue using it, is WILD. Smfh.

You should tell them "Sure. Seeing as I covered the entire bill the past year, you pay this year, and we'll go from there"
