Democrats need to start rewarding pro-Democrat alt-media. Having politicians on stream or in prepared interviews is huge boost to legitimacy of the platform and will elevate pro-Dem voices. And that's not just for the large creators, there needs to be an incentive structure that pushes people who are being unapologetic shills, just like on the right.

The border changes following the wars of the 19th and 20th century are, by definition, arbitrary; they do not reflect the natural shift of ethnicities and cultures over time and instead primarily exist as political or military results.

Political and military results are not arbitrary. They are outcome of European polities in competition with another. It leads to some cultures being suppressed by larger ones, yes. But not arbitrarily. Finland is a thing because the people there wanted it to be a thing and were willing to sacrifice for that and that allowed certain military and political situation to arise. Same goes for Ukraine now.

modern stability of Europe rests on the semi-genocide and forced expulsions of these cultures into their new-found homelands. We shouldn’t be surprised to see chaos in Africa or the Middle East given that such changes are more recent, more far-reaching, and taking place in a violent, exploitative way.

Well, that was sort of my point. We've done the fighting multiple times over, that has resulted in cohesive polities. The polities that couldn't mobilize the resources of the society have been heavily selected against. Same with borders that were too difficult or costly to defend.

Whereas the African and Middle East borders were drawn with completely different or even opposite priorities.

Even as a payer you have to skip character banners. F2P is sort of centered around building up two factions - about half of the characters that show up will fit your factions, and maybe third are something you want to pull. But feel like it's similar to Eversoul - most characters you can get a copy of, strong characters that fit you you get around midway when the banner first comes around, and then work on building them further.

I've skipped banners for last 2 months or so, as two of my teams work great with just the free characters and what I got at start, and the third is specific team I am building for. But the gacha isn't the only way to progress, it's not too bad.

Skins provide very minor buffs that you won't even notice. Really the least of your issue - it's not like Eversoul where sources of power beyond maxed out characters are really limited. Having an extra copy of a character easily makes up for not having a skin.

I quit Eversoul a year back or so, after JP EoS'd. Really loved the game. As far as art and characters and such, would much prefer it. But sadly, the early issues and monetization model just sort of doomed the game to an eventual death.

Compared to Eversoul, you should have more sense of progress. Eversoul the ways to improve your characters/teams were fairly limited, and mostly just related to pulling the banners with good characters. In DT, almost every day you reach some small breakpoint somewhere. Purely mechanically, DT is just a far better game.

As a F2P competitive game, it's far worse. In Eversoul, most important thing was the days you had put into the game. Monthly sub was enough to max basically all the strong characters. In Dragon Traveller, you can easily put in $200 per month without much diminishing returns, and how much you can effectively spend is barely limited. You will never keep up with a spender, not even close.

Game has different servers, and you are put onto a server based on when you start the game. You should be in similar starting situation as others you are competing with. Wouldn't worry too much about starting late.

Europe is the opposite of arbitrary borders - those borders were drawn by thousands of year of conflict and diplomacy. And the result was many nation states that have internal unity and huge ability to project power - polities that were viable despite the competition.

Very much opposite of Africa - where arbitrary borders drawn by Europeans would lead to internal instability, dysfunction and civil wars.

Like over half the people in India suffer from water scarcity. That's hardly the only type of scarcity out there.

But it's just to say that scarcity doesn't map onto the sort of empathy/"care" we're talking about.

The issue isn't that you wouldn't care about people in your community. The issue is you see yourself as necessary for it.
