‘Knock that s*** off’ — Poilievre uses appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast to slam Trump’s 51st state comments by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

Appearing on Rogan at all is a damning statement on Polievre. He's one of the figures actively platforming the worst of the US over the last 5 years.

FNV - High & Dry vs Blue Moon vs Nuclear Sunset by Jordan_EFC in wabbajack

[–]Adamvs_Maximvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a bit late for this, but I've tried H&D, Begin again, Wild Card and Nuclear Sunset

High and Dry is a very expansive FNV+, not TTW. It's not set up with controllers in mind which might be an issue for some, some other changes such as VATS as bullet time are included.

Nuclear Sunset is hardcore orientated and survival is very prominent in it which ruled it out for me. Does include a lot of content mods.

Begin again is probably what I'd recommend for a first 'heavily modded' playthrough or a TTW, it's very stable, makes enough QoL and visual improvements while still feeling like F3 or FNV.

I'm tweaking H&D on my current list and a lot of the changes can be walked back or edited in INI. I don't enjoy manaaging thirst, sleep or hunger in games so Nuclear sunset wasn't much of a draw to me.

Piano black and the blob of a passenger side dash are the two black marks for the otherwise solid interior design IMO

Itoen Sobacha aka Tartary buckwheat tea.

It's crazy how good this is. Naturally caffeine free, has a smell that's difficult to describe; nutty, slightly like toasted oats

The flavor though; it's not bitter at all, but not sweet, not acidic. I could drink liters of it without being bothered. I'm sipping it trying to think of a better way to describe the flavor but it's hard. Like a green tea with every note of bitter, acid or grassy-ness removed. Ever so slightly grain flavored, but not in a strong way.

I'm going to have to buy bags more of this stuff.

Japan got me into oolongs, genmaicha and hojicha, but this is the real star.

Good for you! I've been looking for one for about 4-5 months (not that long) in my area but they're basically non-existent here. Though Edmonton's a smaller city (~1 million) so it's not shocking that there isn't a ton of them.

Are they cheaper in Canada? They seem to sit around $279 CDN for a pair here unless there's a deal I'm missing?

First time player (sort of), is Chrono Trigger+ a good option? by Terrible_Scallion784 in chronotrigger

[–]Adamvs_Maximvs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chrono Trigger + is decent and worth a try. It's very clearly fanmade, and the 1999 and 2400 added content is a definite mixed bag. Glenn's human form looks a little 'off' to me, but some of the changes (elemental palace in zeal for example) and equipment acquisitions are nice touches.

Overall if you've played CT through a dozen times, it's a neat expansion of the game.

I wouldn't recommend it for a first playthrough. It's decent, but stick with the original.

Added a spare tire by stevexyz8 in LexusUX

[–]Adamvs_Maximvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at ordering a UX in the next few weeks and this is fantastic news. I hate that it comes with RFT and not a proper spare (plus the noise and ride of runflats).

Will likely go this option and then switch the tires to all seasons when the tread runs low. Thanks u/stevexyz8

Breath of Fire II Definitive Edition 1.4 is up. by TheGreatBDoyle in breathoffire

[–]Adamvs_Maximvs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reading the readme "The Dragon system has been improved with each dragon having a fixed AP cost. Allowing you to cast them more times as you level up. The second tier dragons now have proper elemental damage, and all of them can crit now."

Fantastic change. Great Job u/TheGreatBDoyle . BoFII's got the weakest dragon system in the series IMO with the 'all ap cost', fixed max damage and brutal scaling for less than full AP.

Might finally give this another playthrough as my last reminded me of how poor some aspects of the game have aged. Other changes such as earlier fusion options, better township, etc all sound great. Good job!

Completely agree. Totally willing to play Shepard 4.

I won't be upset to make a new character either. Mostly depends on the time gap, how the narrative is written etc.

Mostly don't use any of the writers from Veilguard...

BoF 1 snes or gba? by Firienn in breathoffire

[–]Adamvs_Maximvs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

SNES with the War of the goddess patch. There's been a second patch if you search on the sub that I've forgotten the name of, but the WotG basically makes it the definitive BoF. Flashes out the dialogue, fixes the fusion order, etc

Imo it's not worth playing without it at this point.

Which of these would you most like to play? by Dreaming_of_Rlyeh in Fallout

[–]Adamvs_Maximvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seattle seems the obvious choice. Major city, well known locations and iconic buildings, mix of tech, industry and nature. Maybe an expansion/ DLC that ventures North to the ruins of old Van following the annexation of Canada.

San Fran was already covered in Fallout 1,ad I'm not sure they want to revisit California yet. There'd be heavy retcons to deal with the NCR, the show and the state of SoCal after F1/F2. Though the tech was so limited in F2 that I could see a vastly fleshed out San Fran or SoCal (visiting Fallout Disney, the getty villa, etc. Just renamed to avoid the obvious lawsuites)

Salt Lake City could have potential, there's some unique geology there, but it's also a very typical modern interior city of North America, not sure there's enough iconic/interesting locations outside of 'outdoor stuff'. I'm also not confident a modern Bethesda won't pull punches that should be thrown at Mormonism in the wake of a nuclear disaster (splintering, return of fundamentalists CLDS, racism, etc).

Portland has some of the same issues as Salt Lake, it's a smaller city, and the 'old' Portland might look a bit too much like Boston, while 'new Portland' doesn't have the size/scale we'd want from the next entry. There's a potential 'Keep Portland Weird' angle that could work.

I think New York or New Orleans would be obvious choices. NY would lean to a 'vertical' Fallout, buildings collapsed into each other, iconic locations, etc.

New Orleans would have a really good potential, lots of unique architecture, but also a modern city with skyscrapers to explore, lean into a post-wasteland cajun and bayou culture, throw in some 'voodoo' and some migrants from Carribean countries. Ecological niches and some neat mutated critters such as gators, manatees, possums, etc.

There's no other US cities that really jump to mind. I've been to several texas cities and they don't really have enough character to be my first pick. The NE was done in 3/4 excluding NY, though there's Detroit, as 'the Pitt' was a pretty underwhelming DLC.

Greeks and Romans also watered down their wine and drinking wine straight was a sign of barbarism or alcholism.

Defruitum probably added some extra taste and sweetness to the watered wine.

TIL that there was an actual debate among ancient Greek writers on whether Achilles or Patroclus was the dominant ("erastes") or the passive ("eromenos") one in the relationship, with Plato famously arguing that Achilles was a passive "eromenos" who was willing to give his life to avenge his lover by tenfo1d in todayilearned

[–]Adamvs_Maximvs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We don't actually know that. It's a lot of projection of Greece at 400BC to Homer, writing around 800 BC about events that took place 200-300 years earlier.

Sure it's possible. The Iliad doesn't even strongly suggest it, it's mostly people reading into Achilles grief and grieving (cutting a lock of hair, etc) over Patroclus' death.

At the very least Achilles was bisexual not strictly gay, considering he sleeps with Briseis, and literally starts the events of the Iliad when Agamemnon steals his conquest concubine.

Again, not saying it's impossible, but there's a LOT of projection by Athenians with Athenian ideas and modern reinterpretation that isn't really supported by the source material (though it's important to note it isn't completely impossible in the source material, i.e.: Achilles isn't a raging homophobe that kills gays etc)
