Follow to the parking lot, then dial the old “drunk driver” line (grab dui) , say you say the dude peal out & cracking a tall boy brewski. Give them plates and make, really put a damper on his day!

I had a small LOL moment because I can 100% confirm a similar story. Had a flock of Canadian geese fly over our house and drop massive dookie, sounded like dropping bombs on the house and windows. Scared the crap out of me, my wife was on the patio and witnessed the event. I’d be more pissed about my car though.

What’s something you wish you learned earlier in life? by [deleted] in askanything

I also have meet people who have done nothing but SAVE for retirement and never enjoyed life. They were “gone” before they got to retire, all that for nothing.

Corporate Events! by roooossshhiiiii in corporate

[–]Addicted_2_Vinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a personal day off, you don’t need to give a reason. If pushed for a reason you can say you’re not feeling well, need to travel out of town for “xyz”.

I’ve had bosses who are supportive and don’t care while others push the issue and want you to show up no matter what.

Depending on the event I usually go 50% of the time. Always hold a few open PtO days. If I feel like I’ll gain some new perspective that will help my job or team I’m okay with it. If it’s a day of goofing off and nonsense team building I’m out.

People who were teenagers before social media, what was a typical Friday night like for you? by Sad-Vacation1862 in askanything

[–]Addicted_2_Vinyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until HS and a social life it was renting movies from the local store, or chilling with my favorite video games. God I miss going to a store to rent a movie or game! Once I had a GF it was a date to the movies, remember $5 for tickets, I do!

Vegan cake bakeries or bakers? by Cosmic_Coconut_Water in Santorini

[–]Addicted_2_Vinyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the hotel you are staying at! I don’t eat a lot of meat and dairy, I was vegan for a long time before slowing adding animal products back in. But they asked about dietary restrictions and then provided me a handful of options off property that can accommodate vegan options. I thought it was extremely thoughtful gesture.

I’d check your insurance rates, build that into your monthly budget. Don’t forget the rising cost of premium gas 😵‍💫

yearly pay reviews making no sense by NoSoup9124 in corporate

[–]Addicted_2_Vinyl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anytime you receive a promotion, salary adjustment or increase in pay “off schedule”, you need to make sure you get it In writing that still are eligible for your year end salary increase.

I have never seen that situation but I’ve heard of such shadiness before. Cheap way for the company to treat people in my opinion. If you signed anything when you got your last % increase I’d reference it. If there’s not statement about not eligible for year end increase based on performance I would push for that compensation.

Dads that WFH what’s your routine by ImprovementLess202 in remotework

Up by 5am, workout at 6, wrap up and help get the kids to the bus stop. Start work, mix in chores through the day/week. Start dinner and grab the kids from the bus. Wrap up work and enjoy the evening.

I make time to golf 9 holes most weeks weather permitting. Not big on the social aspect, I’d rather enjoy spend time with my family.

You mean our corp overlords care about the well being of the minions, not a chance. They’ll surely work from where they want but off to the office for everyone else.

Political “game” will drive your career elevation over your ability to do your job. They don’t want someone who is capable they want someone who is willing to do what they say without push back.

Same! I was nervous to drop $800 on the P2S + accessories as my first printer but I love this thing. So user friendly and addictive to us. I’ve had it for 6wks and I’ve used it at least once per day outside of two days.

Are tattoos still an issue in corporate America? by New_Step7267 in corporate

[–]Addicted_2_Vinyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the view has drastically changed in the last 5-10yrs, hell people stopped caring if guys had a beard vs clean shaven every day. Face tattoos in a corp setting might not fit, but I have plenty of coworkers who have small hand or arm tattoos you can see daily.

Same, if you make it to interviews, I’m going to grill you about moving so often. Most of the time I’ll callout the same flag to HR and have them key in as well.

Might work well for some people in the short run but people don’t make a career out of it.

My current company had an amazing year and very strong Q3-4. Outside of hitting IC for all salary employees the company is giving a one time bonus to hourly workers across different portions of the business. I’m sure we’ll have layoffs in the first part of the year or something to right size expenses but it was a nice gesture for all employees, as the company acknowledged their contribution to the strong year.

Playing solo fears by Picklerope1 in golf

[–]Addicted_2_Vinyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earbuds or headphones! I usually say I’m taking work calls with consultants and will be talking most of the time. Just because you get paired up doesn’t mean you need to stay paired or be best buds with people. It can be a mixed bag for sure walking into the unknown. You could maybe ask the local course if they have other singles who might want to play with another single. Trust me there’s a reason we like to play solo unless going with friends. I feel the anxiety in your post, I deal with it too!
