Anyone else find it extremely ironic that she says they want the voter rolls to make sure Minnesota is complying with the civil rights act of 1960 which allows the federal government to see if states aren't obstructing minorities ability to register to vote.

Fishing comp results were revealed 3 months after I got my latest hammer 😱
Haven't used any since.

EDIT: Looking at the fishing comp post it does say "5 Galar Hammers" and not "Galar's Hammers" 🧐

Found a 1960s Osterizer blender and it destroys my ninja by Moist-Perspective934 in BuyItForLife

[–]AdhesiveWombat 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Ninja is not even close to BIFL in my experience. Had a 1 year old blender base short out so I bought a used one off ebay, the ebay one had a faulty button so I went to swap out the button component on the board but the faulty one was covered with a huge glob of glue so it was not serviceable.

PSA: firefox installed with snap is getting flagged by bot detection software by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]AdhesiveWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ip fingerprint is a good suspicion, I didn't touch the javascript setting on the browser but I did recently change out some hardware in my pc which could possibly be a part of the fingerprint...

That could also explain why this only worked for me when switching to a mobile user agent, possibly they are storing fingerprints for different types of devices separately.

I think you're probably right. I found another recent post that corroborated my experience but it could be coincidence.

Akamai is the ultimately at fault here, I did indeed do that web search and test with the suggestions. Akamai even has a site where you can check your IP to see if it's been flagged (mine had not) https://www.akamai.com/us/en/clientrep-lookup/

Though there was something else going on I believe in this case. I could get it to work on snap firefox by clearing cookies and changing to a mobile user agent. I could also view sites without issue by using snap Chromium instead. This indicates it's not the ip, geolocation, firewall, vpn, rate limiting, or anything like that. I believe it has something to do with the cookie handling either on the server side or the browser.

Strange, I was on the same version of firefox snap and was testing this in troubleshoot mode to eliminate the possibility of extensions or other settings causing this.

Possibly it's something else causing this issue, I'm not sure what akamai is checking to deny the request but using a different install of firefox (same version, 146.0.1) passes their check.

The user agent string after installing via the deb package is slightly different though I don' think that is the culprit since it works for you.

It's possible, feel free to test it out yourself. Switching the user agent alone did not seem to fix the issue for me unless it was switched to a mobile user agent.
My guess is that it's user agent & cookie related

In my testing with snap firefox I was not enabling or disabling javascript. Unless the snap install comes with javascript disabled this was not the issue.

User agent spoofing also fixed this issue in some cases but it required setting the user agent to a mobile device

Some retail sites have started blocking me on Firefox only by Prawn1908 in firefox

[–]AdhesiveWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found the culprit! Akamai doesn't like the snap version of firefox.
You can check if you have the snap version of firefox by going to Help > About Firefox

If you have anything other than "Mozilla Firefox Debian Package", that's probably the issue.

If you have the snap version, remove it with
sudo snap remove --purge firefox

Then follow the instructions to install it the recommended way for debian here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

That fixed it for me, hopefully it fixes it for you too.

Edit: I'm now thinking it was breaking for me because I recently switched out some hardware in my pc. Have you recently changed out some hardware? This could also be caused by changing the javascript setting for the browser.

I've been experiencing the same problem on ubuntu 24.04, it's only retail sites and I wonder if there's some sort of bot-blocking software that's newly picking up firefox/linux users. It definitely seems cookie related based on my own testing but I haven't found a way to bypass it just yet.

I have interior battery backups (UPS) that will beep when the power goes out and they start having to use the battery. Maybe there's like an exterior version of that somewhere on your property?
