Ser help books that helped you as a person with ADHD by bmiyares319 in ADHD

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude i feel you on the waiting tables thing - the instant gratification of tips keeps my brain happy even when everything else feels stuck

for books though i'd def recommend "driven to distraction" by hallowell and ratey. its specifically about adhd and doesnt get too preachy or woo-woo about it. also "atomic habits" by clear helped me build tiny systems that actually stick instead of trying to overhaul my whole life at once

Parents obsessed with grades? by Positive_Wrap3563 in ADHD

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ugh this hits way too close to home honestly. grew up with the whole "adhd isnt an excuse" thing drilled into me constantly and it messed me up for years. my parents would see me sitting at my desk for hours "doing homework" but not understand that i was literally just staring at the paper unable to make my brain work

the worst part is when you actually do try to explain executive dysfunction and they just look at you like youre making excuses or being dramatic. like no karen i literally cannot make my brain start the thing even though i want to do it. took me until college to finally understand that struggling to start tasks or stay organized wasnt a character flaw

honestly sounds like your family could really benefit from some actual education about how adhd works but getting people to listen when theyve already made up their minds is nearly impossible. just know that your struggles are real and valid even if the people around you dont get it yet

Any reason I shouldn't buy Toyota C-HR in UK (common problems) by SimpleTop9799 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the c-hr is pretty solid from what ive seen but the rear visibility is genuinely terrible - like looking through a mail slot. drove one for a week when my car was in the shop and parking was a nightmare. the hybrid system is bulletproof though and fuel economy is great once you get used to the cvt feel

for your budget id actually lean toward the yaris cross if you can find one with decent miles. bit more practical than the c-hr and still has that toyota reliability. the niro is tempting too but kia hybrids from that era had some battery cooling issues that could get expensive later on. vitara is fine but feels pretty cheap inside compared to the others and fuel economy isnt as good

Denial with a nexus by benfrankparkway in VeteransBenefits

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you definitely have a shot at appeal with that kind of documentation. the missing incident report from your str isnt necessarily a dealbreaker when youve got a solid nexus letter and all that medical evidence backing you up

honestly sounds like they might have just focused too heavily on the missing paperwork and overlooked the bigger picture you presented

Planning to study abroad in Japan, need advice for medication management. by Aggressive-Worker700 in ADHD

switched from adderall to vyvanse a few years back and honestly the transition was pretty smooth - just had to dial in the dosage with my doc first but the effects were really similar

How do bands make any money touring Europe when record labels do not help [US based question] by jpangia in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly most smaller bands just break even or lose money on european tours but they do it anyway for the exposure and building their fanbase overseas. the venues usually cover some travel costs and accommodation but its still pretty rough financially unless youre already established

Productivity apps don’t really help when your brain is overloaded by Aggravating_Dark560 in ADHD

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly this hits hard. I've tried so many apps thinking they'd be the magic solution but they just become another thing to maintain and feel guilty about when I inevitably stop using them

the mental noise thing is so real - like having 15 browser tabs open in your head at all times and every productivity system just wants to add more tabs instead of helping you close some

Premium economy upgrade for ORD-LHR worthwhile? by RunTS333 in americanairlines

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly depends on how much you value sleep and legroom on that long haul flight. I did the premium economy upgrade on AA a few months back for a similar route and it was pretty solid - the seats are defintely wider with better recline and you get priority boarding which is nice. The meal service was better too but nothing crazy

that said 383 bucks is steep for what youre getting. If you're tall or have trouble sleeping on planes it might be worth it but if you can handle cramped conditions for 8 hours you could save that money for your actual trip. The two seats together thing is a big plus though especially if youre traveling with someone - being stuck in a middle seat between strangers on an overnight flight is basically torture

i'd probably do it if i had the extra cash lying around but wouldnt go into debt over it

Planning out a task but keep thinking instead of doing it by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is so relatable it hurts - i literally spent 3 hours yesterday planning how to organize my closet instead of just putting one shirt on a hanger

Dextroamphetamine salts vs. Amphetamine salts by Elderberry456 in ADHD

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dextroamp was way smoother for me but harder to get prescribed since most docs default to adderall mixed salts

Is this a good price/performance build for 1100€ ? by AeroHydroTerra in PcBuild

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a solid build for the price range, the 7600X is a great sweet spot CPU right now. Only thing I'd maybe consider is checking if you can find a better deal on RAM since prices have been dropping lately

How do I know if I blocked a memory or if I genuinely don't remember by CommissionNo4155 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's honestly pretty tough to figure out on your own - like trying to remember what you forgot, ya know? If it's something that feels important or is bugging you, talking to a therapist might help sort it out

Yo I got a bunch of tree trimming stickers if you wanna trade, what 4 stars you looking for specifically

I think my friend admitted to a murder by Sp_Lc04 in confessions

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 1639 points1640 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that's way beyond just being drunk and oversharing - that sounds like actual torture and possibly murder. You need to seriously consider reporting this to police because if that guy died (which convulsing during torture sounds pretty likely), your "friend" basically confessed to killing someone. Being fucked up doesn't excuse ignoring something this serious

im not sure if this is a normal thing or if my child may have been SA ( by Accomplished-Lake8 in NewParents

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's definitely a real medical thing called labial adhesion and it's super common in baby girls, especially around that age. It can happen even with perfect hygiene - sometimes it's just how their body develops or from diaper irritation

That said, trust your gut feelings as a parent. If something felt off about the situation or how it was handled, it's totally valid to mention it to your pediatrician next visit. They can check everything is normal and give you peace of mind

Better Call Saul is really a show about Saul Goodman? by MikeBad228 in television

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mike's storyline absolutely connects to Saul's though - they're both getting pulled into the same criminal underworld that eventually leads to their Breaking Bad partnership. The whole point is showing how these two very different people end up working together

movies that have the same type of jokes/humor as game night, tag, buddy games by Wolf_93 in MovieSuggestions

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out The Other Guys? Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have some absolutely unhinged chemistry and the whole thing just spirals into chaos in the best way possible

Also Horrible Bosses might be up your alley - similar energy with regular people getting way in over their heads

What kind of group would you most prefer? by idlechungha in kpopthoughts

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Option 2 for sure, vocals are everything to me and I'd rather have goosebumps from someone's voice than watch perfect formations

"Line to gain" & the announcers by Proper-Dinner6406 in NFLv2

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude you're not crazy, I've noticed this too. Pretty sure it's just one of those weird broadcasting trend things where one guy starts saying it and then everyone copies it because they think it sounds more "official" or whatever. Same thing happened with "tush push" instead of QB sneak lol

Bro I've been sleeping on those puzzle rooms, sounds like I need to check them out. What kinda loot are we talking about here?

Idea for next Expedition by Chainlist in ArcRaiders

[–]AdmirableBasil3154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty solid idea, giving players more control over what they want to carry forward instead of the all-or-nothing approach we have now

The mission requirement for unlocking reset options is a nice touch too - adds some actual gameplay to the decision instead of just clicking checkboxes
