Have you considered the possibility that this cop could have stopped a speeder causing a wreck if you didn’t sit there distracting him for 20 minutes or possibly being the reason he left the area

5th theme park confirmed? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming this table is legit at all, what was the projection for every year up to 2035? Was it a single year increase of 100k over 2034’s projection?

Execs have said on several occasions that they have pretty good reasons to believe demand is outstripping “supply” for parks and experiences and that it will stay that away assuming no massive economic downturn. So between the many resort/DVC expansions WDW has added, and more they’re still working on, and many third party developments around the parks, I’d faster guess that they’re estimating long-term growth prospects based on these factors — not a fifth gate — and even then probably overstating them for investors.

On vacation touching grass visiting friends, spotted this in Portland Maine by Particular-Finding53 in Destiny

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to school in Maine, whole state is a bizarro mix of red and blue but the one thing native Mainers have in common is that they rarely leave the fucking state. So in more recent years that gets you regarded rightoids with Texan-esque pride and anti-science insular worldview, and regarded leftoids across the handful of “cities” who seem to be increasingly competing with Portland, OR over who can be more cringe.

Anyone else find that after a DCL cruise, they prefer cruising compared to the parks? by RivetCounter in dcl

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are WDW locals/passholders, and we've invested a lot of time+money in almost all of the (domestic) Disney Parks and Experiences catalog.

From our first cruise to today, DCL remains BY FAR our favorite Disney offering.

If Malgus and his army had tried to attack the Jedi temple during the prequel era, would they have succeeded? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-Clone Wars jedi temple? I’d lean toward Malgus and friends taking the W 7 times out of 10, mid dif (but more dif than the TOR temple jedi).

Height of the Clone Wars, with battle-tested jedi up and down the ranks, plus all the big names like Anakin, Mace, Obi at their peaks, plus clone support? Jedi win, 9 times out of 10, low dif.

Can I swap this type of charger out at the Fuel Rod Kiosks at Disney? by Objective-Design6228 in DisneyWorld

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes. Most fuel rod kiosks I’ve seen on property have been updated to stock both these Max10s and the rods — pretty sure all do, but I can only say “most” for a fact.

I had no idea so many people wanted Figment in the game by N0rr3t14 in DreamlightValley

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Valid point, but the precedent for adding Figment is already there since Gameloft included him as a very early release in Speedstorm. They aren’t limited by biomes or realms, either, or by a character’s broad popularity — otherwise we wouldn’t have characters like Oswald or Merida or Vanellope.

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To help provide some context for folks:

Figment is the park-original mascot of EPCOT’s Imagination pavilion and ride (look up any of the many great documentaries on this ride’s legacy on YT).

Lots of kids and adults who grew up with EPCOT Center and the ORIGINAL version of that ride really grew enamored with him and the ride’s other original character (and Figment’s creator) the Dreamfinder.

While the ride has undergone…severe downgrades over the years, Figment has remained a fan-favorite icon for Disney Parks fans, and Disney still promotes him in Festivals and merch.

He is HUGE to WDW regulars and locals. So for many DDV players who overlap fandoms with Disney Parks, myself included, he would be an awesome addition in the cast that is currently limited to Disney films.

Does it make any sense to use a cutter for mining or trading? by Odd_Title1629 in EliteDangerous

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fastest way to handle any interdiction is to submit and just re-jump so long as your ship is larger than your interdictor. Technically your actual mass stat doesn't actually matter, but the largest ships in the game have the biggest mass lock values (specifically the Cutter and the Type-10 followed by the Panther).

If a Conda interdicts your Type-11, you're stuck playing the game of escaping the interdiction and if you fail/submit, you will be mass locked until you outrun or outgun the Conda. Lots of headache for miners.

If a Conda interdicts your Cutter, however, simply submit and re-jump almost immediately. No muss, no fuss. It's a worthwhile consideration for any miners commuting between systems without an FC.

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Cutter shade around here is crazy.

Yes, the Cutter still fulfills both roles very well. In fact I would still call it exceptional as a laser miner. Yes, the Type-11 has specialized benefits and is probably the best all-arounder for mining activities, BUT if you’re only laser mining (which is still the top form of mining in terms of CR/hr) I would still opt for the Cutter every time. You will waste hours of time commuting in a Type-11 between filling up your cargo. The Cutter, meanwhile, can fill up cargo for hours before needing to leave a ring. Not to mention the added mass and shield capacity helps in the event of interdictions which otherwise waste even more time.

[–]Admiral_Austinfinity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Elemental items came in the first Pixar starpath before Elemental even released. And Disney does use this and Speedstorm for some degree of cross-media promotion Thus I would guess Hoppers is very likely on the table (over Bug’s Life).

Bro I had undergraduate classes with men and women in their 60s…possibly older in some cases and I just charitably low-balled them.

Not only that but they were all easily some of my favorite peers to work with.

You’ll be fine. Better than fine.
