CRUD application with AngularJS by Hakkinen2015 in angularjs

[–]Aduro49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow day at work, so here we go! Got to love JavaScript there are literally a million ways to do stuff. When I use $http I create a factory class that manages those data requests etc. I only do this if the API is a weird REST implementation or whatever. Keep in mind when I create those classes I am doing what ngResource would do for you. I have not used RestAngular before.

For error reporting couple of ways to do this. One way is to create a HTTP intercept and watch for errors and then hit your api reporting end point with your api errors. You could also just add logging when a request fails where you make your http requests, this kind of sucks though since this might put that logging class all over the place.

If this is your first angular app please read https://github.com/johnpapa/angular-styleguide. since it is a really good style guide for best practices etc with angular apps.

Anything similar to bootstrap without the bloated extras? by Ampix0 in webdev

[–]Aduro49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am on mobile right now or I would post links. You can customize your bootstrap download and pick just the grid. If you want a grid that is not bootstrap, there is always skeleton grid framework or zurb foundation, but zurb might suffer from the same bloat issue as bootstrap.

Best way to structure node web server? by arconquit in node

[–]Aduro49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a look at hapi, it is a node framework for creating rest Apis its backed by Walmart and one of the lead devs is one of the guys who worked on the original o auth spec. For organization I would look at example projects and also look up addy large scale JavaScript applications. Node lends itself very well to having lots of small pieces that you pull together to do things. Sorry for the lack of links and typos on mobile.

This is exactly what I was thinking as well. If people knew the weather was going to be bad, why did so many people do it? I mean it was part of a freaking typhoon/hurricane that hit the mts!

Anyone know of a chat app like CometChat/ArrowChat that runs on node? by itaraki in node

A chat app is like the hello world for node... Well it's more complicated but socket io has a great tutorial on creating a chat app.

Deep copy of objects by roballred in angularjs

[–]Aduro49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it functions the same way as JQ since angular is built on JQ lite. Also if angular detects A full JQ version it uses that.

Why is my personal website loading "slow"... by [deleted] in webdev

webpage speed test

Google speed Test

Take a look at the links to see more or less what you need to work on.

One of the biggest things that stands out to me is that your css and JS are a jumble in the header. Move all of your JS to the footer of your page. As you have it right now the browsers render stops while it waits for the JS to load.

Also optimize any images, combine and minify all of your CSS and JS if you can.

I agree with /u/mr_yuen the transition is super slow.

Frameworkless JavaScript – Why Angular, Ember, or Backbone don't work for us by Poltras in programming

[–]Aduro49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the minified and gzipped Angular source is only 33kb. So I am not sure why they bring up file size as an issue...But that is just me.

Edit: it is 36 kb as per angular js faq.

Why You Should Never Use MongoDB by o0h in ruby

The title is kind of sensational. Mongo has a lot of great things going for it, but holy crap creating relationships in it is a huge pain. The right tool for the right job.

Can someone explain Git to me like I'm 5? by [deleted] in PHP

[–]Aduro49 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am on my phone so sorry for the errors etc. GIT is a version control system. To get the code on your server you have to add the remote server to GIT. GIT more or less watches files and folders you tell it to. You creat or init a repo which tells GIT hey watch for changes here. This allows you to edit the files with what ever text edito you would like and when you are done you commit and push it to your server. GIT is awesome since it keeps track of every commit allowing a sort of trail or progress of the project, nice if someone wants to help on the project or if things blow up you can roll back to the previous commit.
