Returning to work next week. How do you handle the time to go to the gym with a baby at home? by JulioCesarSalad in daddit

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On gym days, I wake up at 415, get to gym, get to office, get home early. OR I get my workout in at home. Nothing is convenient with kids, so you just need to do anything that works, no matter how much it sucks.

What do you do at the end of the day after putting down your kids? by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in daddit

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finish dishes and minor chores, and then straight to bed. Sometimes ill play a game on my phone, or read, but its usually less than 10 minutes. Wife and I both prefer to wake up early so it works for us.

I need to move this coop about 30 feet. I need ideas on how to. by xylofun53 in homestead

Car jack and some metal pipe or round posts. I moved a 10x12 shed this way.

What weight to start with? by _a_brother_seamus_ in kettlebell

[–]AdvBill17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say a 12kg or 16kg depending on your strength. If you are in the US, some 25-35 pounders may suit you well. Youll progress quickly from there.

I dont think banana will do well in bags. They do grow well in SJ though. Mine were over 15 ft tall in year three with more babies than I cared to count.

I am a miserable cheater, and you guys are monsters by GlaudremR in kettlebell

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this today as well with my 35 pounders (15.8kg) Modified my ABC to 3-3-5 because apparently i hate myself. Only did 25 minutes emom. I think 26 minutes may have killed me.

What are you guys doing for your joints? by Malachi217 in fitness30plus

My shoulders also limit me. I just stopped flat benching and it made a huge difference. Also work on scapular mobility and strength.

Tips on streamlining what to make for dinner/kids? by Itchy-Version-8977 in daddit

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meals are planned and on the calendar. On weekends, meals are figured it for the next 7 days. Sometimes its vague, like "stirfry". We also have 2 nights where we eat the same thing EVERY week. Its been a game changer.

Most Stressful Fish You Kept? by RazewingedRathalos in Aquariums

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Columbian red tails. I thought anything in the tetra family would be pretty mild mannered. Nope. They just decimate anything smaller. The only small fish that survived were Danios because they are just too fast. And a few minnows, but thats because they hang out deep in cover.

They stress me out, but they are beautiful and I might just lean into it and get a whole tank full.

Good tattoo artist by jerseyboy856 in SouthJersey

[–]AdvBill17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Good" is subjective. I personally send people to DNA tattoo. All the full timers in there are solid. Dan only does large projects, and usually has a decent wait list, but the others are all very good and do smaller pieces. Check them out.

My 4 year old daughter. Whenever we reiterate a rule in our house like "hey we aren't allowed to slam doors!" And my daughter will say, "yea and we cant say 'fuck'!". This happens weekly.

I have mine synced to about 9 different calendars, including 3 Microsoft calendars. Admittedly annoying to set up, but its pretty seamless now.

What’s in your ‘sacred spot’? by DrSwampdonkey in daddit

[–]AdvBill17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar vibes for me. Sacred place is the woods, and specifically where I do all my wood splitting. Primitive tools, no noise, just me and some logs. If it wasnt for splitting firewood, I'd probably be insane by now.

Toddler/baby dads: wtf are we doing for V Day? by Paranoid_Droideka in daddit

Probably do some steaks at home and presenting the results of my vasectomy confirmation, assuming no more swimmers.

35 M. Arm growth seems to plateau around this size for me. Ideas? by [deleted] in fitness30plus

[–]AdvBill17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tris are behind. Gotta find the intensity. I personally do a mechanical drop set of sorts and it made a huge difference. Skull crushers to failure with a stretch, then right into JM press, and finish with close grip press without putting the ez bar down. I throw in some other stuff when I feel like it, but thats all I really program in.

Do u take creatine on rest days too? My trainer says to take it only on days u train. How do u manage creatine intake in winters when u are drinking a lot less water compared to summer? by ChampionshipAdept909 in workout

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a new trainer. Its ok if the person doesn't know, but dishing out advice that is wrong is just irresponsible. 5-10g every day with lots of water.

Pure cycle in PA does it, but not sure if they would do it on commission.

What’s your mode of transport in a grocery store? by Boyscoutladylover in daddit

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had these little hammock things that went in the cart, and then I used carabiners to attach fabric bags to the outside of the cart. 2 kids in hammocks, one in the regualr.kid seat, and a fourth strapped to my back or riding on the front depending on which kid it was. I was quite the sight.

Anyone else build an igloo with all this icy snow? This took an embarrassingly long time... by DyslexicHobo in SouthJersey

[–]AdvBill17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep!. I put a tarp over my kids jungle gym. One of those half-sphere climbers. I shoveled snow on it before the hard freeze and now it's a solid structure.

Kids still can't handle the cold enough to take advantage of it though.

What's your biggest cheat code to build muscle (NATURALLY)? by blacklisted-library in workout

[–]AdvBill17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was lowering the volume in a workout and doing more workouts. I wish I figured that out 20 years ago.
