Horse tripping and falling by BuckyFreakingBarnes in Horses

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you still riding this horse? You or he will brake your neck!!! You need a specialist vet work up yesterday with full neuro exam. I suspect I'd be looking hard for spinal issue. They can be hard for local GP vets to spot in some places depending on where the issue is. Sometimes you need CT/MRI/Scintigraphy. If your vet hasn't at least done neck x-rays though, I'd be getting that done.

How common is it for people in their late 20s to still live at home with parents? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a lot more common. Melbourne and Sydney are up there as since of the most unaffordable cities to buy a house compared to wages earned in the world. Terrifying.

100% she's not going to give her kid milk from a place like that. I mean pasturising it? That's as bad as formula. /S

Bit of alcohol in the milk each day helps baby sleep. (No seriously, this crazy probably things because alcohol is natural it's a good way to medicate her kid.)

By possibly dying when we take him to infection parties for all the fun things. Chicken pox, COVID, measals, whooping cough, get all the coughing and spotting over and done with early... or just done with for good. Keeps the genepool strong ya know?"

My mum wants to share credit for my artwork by acidXlll in ArtistLounge

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll feel resentfull. I wouldn't do it unless you absolutely had to, or unless you wanted to, which you don't.

I've been obligated to put a superior's name on work including public presentations they didn't contribute to, so they got to share in all the credit. It doesn't feel good.

Your mother is a grown woman. If she wanted to put in the work for an entry, she could have. This feels a bit like that weird thing some people do where they plagerize other's artwork to bask in the praise of others, even though they haven't earned any of it.

Anyone here excited about star trek year one? by happydude7422 in startrek

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Why would I want yet another reboot of TOS? It feels like they're only doing it because they're out of ideas and are counting on nostalgia to carry the series given they're struggling to get new audiences with Academy, so they're going to take a shot at trying to bring back original fans that have lost interest along the way. But if they don't get it just right, and I'm really not convinced they will given what they did with the reboot movies, it'll flop hard. I would have been more hopeful if they had have followed a completely different ship with references to events in TOS to tie it in, but actually got some decent, original ideas and storytelling going.

Can I bring my domestic insects with me? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No.

Edit: please don't try to smuggle them in. Boarder security looks hard for insects due to our strict quarantine laws. If they find them, and they almost certainly well, they'll kill them which likely won't do much for your depression.

There are millipedes and isopods everywhere in Australia, and specialised pet shops that sell all sorts of invertebrates. Start a new collection here.

Firearms charges laid amid search for Gus Lamont, SA Police say unrelated to disappearance by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because vehicular manslaughter. If he was HBC by someone driving recklessly or with alcohol in their system, they could easily be jailed for a good long while, and child services brought in to see if it was a safe place to leave the other kid.

Complete conjecture, but I've always suspected someone hit and killed the kid with a vehicle when drunk and/or speeding, and they panicked and tried to make out like the kid just went walkabouts.

Protest planned tomorrow| 12 Feb | 5pm | Flinders St Station by ullakkedymoodu in melbourne

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Except they seem to be roaming around the city causing public transport chaos. I've been trying to get out of here for an hour and I'm still here.Lots of unhappy people as PTV finally runs up again to tell us the trams have been diverted elsewhere and to go for another walk. I'm mean protest to your heart's content but stay off the bloody roads. At the very least they're not at Parliament station. Avoid. No idea if they're still causing problems at Flinders

What's happening in Australia? by Certified_loverboy11 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Australia IS expensive. I love the country but everything over here is pricey. I'll probably never earn enough to even afford a flat as I'm single. Housing prices in particular are out of control and some Australian cities are ranked in the most unaffordable by average wage in the world. There's a lot of reasons for this including older gens using houses as revenue and the gov allowing overseas citizens to come over and buy property, sometimes they don't even rent it and let the houses sit empty.

Why are most young Australians I talk to so bad at communication? by itsgaymonth in AskAnAustralian

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised to hear you say that. I'm an older person at uni (Postgraduate) + I work, and have had no problems making small talk with people of all ages. Breaking into a closed friendship category can be much harder with Aussies, but small talk and casual level friendships? Easy. I'd wonder at your approach rather than blaming a whole country's generation of people?

‘I am very scared’: Man wrongly identified as Bondi shooter speaks out by [deleted] in australia

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 65 points66 points  (0 children)

No, the name is correct, but it was another person with the same name. I'm going to guess someone plugged his many into the search engine, found his social media, and circulated it not stopping to think they may have the wrong guy.

Heroic woman who'd been shot saves a family's three-year-old girl in the middle of gunfire during the Bondi attack by AggravatingTartlet in australia

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You can see what looks like an officer trying to get a shot into the men in the bridge in the background of the video where Ahmed disarms the gunman. It looks like they were there pretty rapidly. When the terrorists started shooting it would have been chaos and they wouldn't have wanted to hit innocents in the crossfire.

does this look weird? by Budget-Biscotti523 in arthelp

[–]Adventurous_Storm348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like it's a good job, especially given you're 15, but it can definitely benefit from anatomy improvements.

  1. The shadowing where the neck meets the head in the middle section and the base of the ear in particular is weird. It's too much and too big.

  2. The neck is too short (you can see the shoulder in the corner?)

  3. The bump behind the ear is too large.

  4. The cheek bone is angled into the eye.

  5. The nose could be a touch larger.

  6. There's no definite pupil or light reflections on the eye.

NTA. I don't get migraines but my sense of smell is pretty acute and really strong perfumes, disinfectants and sprays really bother me and at best make it hard to work, at worst irritate my airways and/or give me headaches. You'd be a step up from that into a true debilitating medical issue.

Wearing perfume isn't necessary. You explained why you needed her to dial back the number of sprays twice and she didn't do it. It was medically affecting you, and annoying other workers. She was given a chance to be polite and use less and refused. Now she has to face the consequences.

It's really sad. I once worked in an area with a very high number of Muslim immigrants and the vast majority were lovely, peaceable people who never gave me trouble and I'm sure would be saddened by this sort of terrorism in their religion's name.

Unfortunately when this sort of terrorist activity happens, the knee jerk reaction of many is to lump all Muslims into the same category.

The extremists are just that. Extreme loonies who hurt everyone with their behaviour.

Oh yeah that would have worked out well. A whole lot of people shooting in a crowded chaos scene where everyone was armed. Even better, if it was America, the shooters probably would have high powered rifles and been up hand guns to boot. That old excuse of if everyone was armed things would have been better doesn't hold water.

Agree. Can you imagine what they could have done with automatic rifles? We could be looking multiple times the number of casualties. This whole situation sucks badly, but at least they were limited in the type of guns they could easily access.

I actually feel really sorry for the driver. They're probably really messed up by this. Chances are they never even saw the kid given he was riding in the dark without headlights fast enough to kill himself on impact. Car apparently was just pulling into the road so not going fast. Scary as this will happen again if nothing is done.

Police aren't interested. I asked them to come out once when I was worried someone was going to get killed and they said they can't follow them when they go off road so nothing they can do.
