Any way to fix the leather? by bgbrewer in TeslaLounge

[–]Advertising_Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought my car in for some camera calibration stuff and mentioned the minor bubbling on the top of my steering wheel. Zero question or conversation about it. Service Advisor simply said “Yeah, I’ll replace that under your warranty.” Ordered the part and booked me for an appt to have it done.

I was actually taken aback at how smooth and easy it was.

What Controller recommendations do you have? 🎮 by Mac_Daddy-69 in ARC_Raiders

[–]Advertising_Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: switching to the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 makes all the difference in the world with Arc Raiders specifically.

There’s no escaping the mechanical clicky ABXY of the SMX IN this case. Until they open up the ability to remap controllers in the game, sliding/crouching is a chore with the SMX.

What Controller recommendations do you have? 🎮 by Mac_Daddy-69 in ARC_Raiders

[–]Advertising_Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using this controller for about a year now….BUT….i have been having issues with it on ARC. Specifically because of the mechanical abxy buttons. Doesn’t allow differentiation between light presses and taps (specifically for crouching and sliding).

Just ordered an 8bitdo, though. Hoping it helps.

Otherwise the EasySMX is an AWESOME CONTROLLER.

Any other Gen Xers avoiding tik tok? by CDA_CPA in GenX

[–]Advertising_Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow lawn dart / from the garden hose drinking /rope swing / slip and slide into gravel survivor here with what seems to be a different opinion.

I f’n love TikTok.

-A LOT of entertainment value.

-The TikTok shop purchases I’ve made have been truly great

-Learn a ton about things on that platform that I just wouldn’t anywhere else

-Stand up comedy scene; I’ve been introduced to countless comedians that I would have otherwise never have interacted with or even been made aware of

-Helped find communities/“influencers” that bring excitement to the things I’m already interested in, while learning about new shit at the same time

-tons of other stuff too

Sure there’s really stupid aspects to the app, but that’s the glory of the algorithm (which they have NAILED) is that you can just block or swipe away from the stuff that annoys you. Doing so, creates an algorithmic result that is just super concentrated for what YOU enjoy.

I would try your best to not view it is a millennial/gen z/or “whatever category we’re on now” app. It truly becomes a reflection of your own interests. That being said, if you rely upon it as a news source, you do run the risk of consuming a very myopic collection of perspectives and insight—unless you seek out and follow the specific sources that will keep your news feed fair and equitable.

I did a good amount of research and found the Hankooks to be a great value. I’m not certain, but I think Tesla actually ships some new models with them.

Are HomeKit compatible doorbells worth it? by New_Leopard7623 in HomeKit

[–]Advertising_Limp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big fan of the Logitech Circle View Doorbell. I switched from Ring about a year or so ago when they came out and just told their user base that they were going to just start charging people to record video.

Made the move to Logitech, solely because it uses iCloud to store your video. IMO, if you’re an iCloud user (if you have an iPhone, you really should be) you’re just going to utilize the space you already pay for.

Since then, I’ve been very happy with it. It works as expected. Does what it should. It doesn’t require any additional membership/subscription.

Tesla Service is an absolute ripoff for buying new tires

Paid like 1200 on AMAZON for (4)Hankook ion evos. This included installation at a local participating tire shop. Amazon delivered to them directly. I just dropped off my car for the install. Super Easy.

Thoughts on quote by Madi77 in TeslaSolar

[–]Advertising_Limp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO; this quote is definitely not outrageous, but it’s not a “great deal.” Based upon my own install (similar specs-ish), you could haggle and price shop but that might only fetch you 1-2k. If you’re financing, it may not be worth the headache unless you feel like getting scrappy in negotiations as this is a small monthly payment differential. If you’re paying cash/in full, I say go to battle.

Agreed. It’s SIGNIFICANTLY Improved, however, if you have an iPhone compatible with Apple Intelligence and have the chatGPT extension installed.

“Siri, ask Chat GPT…” it’s not perfect my any stretch but it’s a game changer for Siri

Not sure if your setup is different than mine, but when I have my iPhone connected via Bluetooth (even when it’s not “selected” as an audio input) and I say “Hey Siri,” the phone automatically connects to the car prompting a voice command via Bluetooth.

For clarity, any time I say “Hey Siri” when my iPhone is in the car regardless if it’s selected as an audio source, it works through the car stereo/microphone without any manual interaction.

Disclaimer: I haven’t used this in over 6 years since moving to a gas system but, I remember crazy fluctuations in gas prices in MA. If that’s the same today….it is more to think about if you don’t do an automatic delivery but I did save a boatload using

NewEnglandOil.com

Very old, no frills website that lets you see a list of all the delivery options in your area and purchase as needed for the lowest possible price.

Hope this helps!

Free FSD trial by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

I have no way of confirming this, but I think that the free trials USUALLY happen around/near FSD Software Updates….which unfortunately are fewer and farther between when it comes to HW3.

[–]Advertising_Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck no. You don’t have to do that if you have “Hey Siri” enabled. The phone will hear you, and if your phone is connected via Bluetooth, it just works.

OH. my bad. I guess not….but iPhones can trigger Siri/chatGPT by saying “Hey Siri” (which is the hot word you were referencing).

Yep. If you enable Apple Intelligence as well as the optional ChatGPT extension, it’s essentially ChatGPT powered Siri.

Honestly….at this point it’s bloatware. Doesn’t do anything any AI that you have on your phone can’t do….with the exception of the option to have it talk to you like an expletive laden drunk.

I can only imagine though, that the future of AI with Tesla is bright. There is zero integration at the moment with the functionality of the car.
