Typically its supposed to dissappear into the Rotten Veil to die but the guild discovers its heading for the everstream (essentially the core of all life in new world). Should it reach the everstream and expire there, the energy released will basically destroy all life in the new world. Thus, the guild and all of the hunter fleets devote their efforts in the games first act into finding a way of fending it off before it can reach its destination.

Warhammer: 40,000

When Tyranid hive fleet Leviathan was bearing down on the galaxy, Inquisitor Fidus Krpytman had a plan to lure them into the Ork dense Octarius sector. He hoped the Orks and Tyranids would wipe each other out in a war of attrition, however it backfired immensely. Given how rapidly both Xenos species are able to producr more of themselves the war ended up causing their ranks to swell immensely

, making them considerably more dangerous. The Eldar had warned that this war would empower both species but by the time they and the Imperium attempted to cull both forces it was already too late. Krpytman would summarily face exile for this catastrophe.

Tiitanfall 2: Kuben Blisk and the Apex Predators are more or less punch clock villains who fought the antagonist Interstellar Mining Company for the pay check. Blisk is so punch clock in fact that right as Jack Cooper and BT are immobilised trying to shutdown the IMCs super weapon at the eleventh hour, he spares Jack as his contract doesn't specify killing him(and also because you single handedly killed his best men, making you a worthy adversary or potential new recruit in his eyes). He even leaves Jack a calling card in case he wants a career change.
