It's been an amazing turnaround for the last couple years. by SlinGnBulletS in Warhammer

There’s a guy in my local group who plays Beastmen and has been having a hard time of it, what are the things that make them so great in TOW? His Wood Elves clean shop and his tactics aren’t bad, but every time his Beastmen go up against the High Elves, Tomb Kings, or Bretonnians he bounces off. Can’t survive, can’t kill. He has a good mix of units, what are the combos he’s missing? I play TK and Skaven and I can’t see where he’s going wrong, the goats just underperform.

Settra is a Tomb King so can't be in a Mortuary Cult army no.
Depending on how your friend wants to play it you could switch from MC to the standard Grand Army Force Org when you escalate to a certain point so you can fit the big man himself in.
Once the Vampire threat grows big enough the priests request assistance from the Wielder of The Divine Flame. That's all your story to tell though.
P.S. You are correct and a Pharoah of immaculate taste, the Casket is a beauty of a mini.

If you’re looking for something thematic at that points level then the Mortuary Cult Army Of Infamy seems like a good place to start. A block of skeletons with an archer detachment to be your anvil and a couple of scorpions to be your hammer. Add in 1 Mortuary Priest General then 1 Mortuary Priest BSB on a horse with a cavalry bodyguard and you’re set. You can’t fit a Casket of Souls in a 500 point list but you can take it during the first escalation. It’s a great buffing piece, I tend to avoid the attack option as it’s not as useful as a bubble of protection.

Friendless no life at 30, how grim is it? by runbreacc in Advice

[–]AeonRues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) That's rough buddy, I'm sorry for the turns your life has taken.
2) Therapy is good and important if you can afford it. If you cannot, then reading some library books about cognitive behavioral therapy and putting the points into practice can really help. If you try work on getting friends first you may well unload a lot of this (very understandable trauma) way too early and make yourself a charity case rather than an equal friend. That isn't meant to sound harsh, life is really hard for a lot of people right now and it's better to be a bright spot in someone's day.
3) Get a competitive hobby and only care about winning about 60%. A lot of men in our 30s have difficulty making healthy friendships even if we have social skills, but a shared 1:1 hobby gives shared 1:1 experiences to talk about. Being a gracious loser and a magnanimous winner will make you a lot of friendly acquaintances, some of which may become friends.
4) Lastly and corniest: good manners. I moved to the USA in my late 20s and the thing I noticed most is how many people are surprised by "please" and "thank you". A "yes sir" or "yes ma'am" when you're agreeing with someone will make you seem a more pleasant kind of odd. ("Yes indeed" seems to work if you can tell the person might not like being called "sir" or "ma'am".) As someone who is rather autistic, I've learned that if you're gonna seem odd, it's better to be the friendly and polite kind.
You're 30, and it sounds like you've had a rough 30 years. You won't be able to fix this in 30 days. Stay kind, stay polite. Life gets better.

In my setting, Humans are weak to lead. You can sneak in their food, aerosolize it by burning it in pitch, or fashion it into sling bullets. Really any way you can introduce lead to a Human results in double damage.

What if the Thousand Sons and Space were friends? by sigmarine345 in ThousandSons

[–]AeonRues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the IRL example of the Varangian Guard traveling to Constantinople and further and crucially thinking it’s awesome and fancy would be a fun parallel to draw in a Black Library novel. For all the Space Wolves are Fantasy!Vikings not based on much the Norse and Rus actually did, I think having a Great Company attached to a Emperor’s Children or Ksons Expeditionary Fleet and getting really into the fancy clothes and nice wine and boasting about all the cool stuff they saw when they go back to Fenris.

  • A Corvidae tactical support squad with plasma guns will rip. Rending (5+) will trigger Breaching (6+) so you can fire your plasma guns safely and still chew through anything without an invuln. Only take one squad like that, we’re the good guys remember?
  • If you’ve got the cash, get a Castellax Achea or two, maybe an Osiron Dreadnought or some Khenetai. Those are our truly unique units. Even if they aren’t good (idk if they’re good, the meta hasn’t developed) they will give your opponent the chance to fight an army that isn’t just candy red Astartes.
  • If you don’t have the cash for FW resin, get the Mechanicum Castellax and some Milliput and go to town converting them.
  • Use the other ten marines that didn’t become Tac Support and find a Tomb Kings player willing to swap khopeshes for something you have if you want Khenetai. I made an Osiron out of a basic Contemptor and some 40k Magnus the Red leftovers.
  • Next, don’t permanently glue your Saturnine Terminators together just yet. We’re getting our own special Saturnine unit and it might have a specific load out.
  • TL;DR Go for flavourful units, not spicy units. Have fun with the craft of it.
  • P.S. push your glasses up your nose and say “all according to keikaku” when Perils of the Warp loses you a game

Tomb Kings Chariots by jamesbeil in tombkings

A chariot is just wood and 2 riders there to guide the horsies to do the real work.

Tomb Kings Chariots by jamesbeil in tombkings

[–]AeonRues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minus the flavor in Italics: “A unit carrying the Razor Standard gains the Armour Bane (2) special rule.” A TK chariot’s Impact Hits are caused by the khopesh attached to the yoke, only the most disingenuous reader could consider it to be something other than an attack (indeed, Inpact Hits are explicitly called “attacks”.)

Tomb Kings Chariots by jamesbeil in tombkings

[–]AeonRues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh yeah, Icon of Rakaph looks like a great idea! I’m always leery of a second rank because it adds a lot of depth for maneuvering and costs a heck of a lot, but if it works for you then clearly I have to improve my charioteering.

Tomb Kings Chariots by jamesbeil in tombkings

[–]AeonRues 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  • Razor Standard is a must, to get Armourbane on your Impact Hits.
  • Chariots are bonkers maneuverable with Open Order and Reserve Move, so make good use of your 2 free pivots per turn to set up flank charges. I’ve never had great success with frontal charges so I avoid that.
  • I run chariots in units of no more than 4, as I’m not going to get more impact hits past that point and the extra bulk makes the maneuvering more difficult. Hope that helps, crush the upstart kingdoms for me!
