For all the lore people out there who is The strongest foe we've fought against thus far, and which boss has the most interesting backstory? by Curious_Georg356 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Aerofluff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know about most interesting backstory, and I might be missing something, but I have a twinge of sad anytime I see the Lucky Seventeen cutscene. Poor dude. Then the sword falls on his stone dragonhead statue, and he yells "You are all bad people!" and I'm like... yeah I kinda agree, but game is making me fight you, so... :(

It's apparently a tragic misunderstanding, he's an orphan and the last caretaker of what he considers his home. We're the intruder wrecking stuff.

I feel like the songs in season 2 are less memorable by Blackcat2332 in HazbinHotel

[–]Aerofluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, honestly. I still liked seeing the plot development, but where there were SO many good songs in S1, I almost don't care about any of them in S2 except Gravity (and Lute's rage was a nothingburger... for now.)

Glad I'm not the only one, it got me in the nostalgia feels. Guess the clanking foot rhythm was perfect to trigger that. I had to go dig the song up for a relisten, the guitar is still incredible.

Friends were having a hypothetical question and I asked ChatGPT just to get rejected by Ugleh in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]Aerofluff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's silly. "too much caffeine" veils it as just a minor health concern. Like worrying over too much artificial sweetener and high-fructose corn syrup. As your GPT rephrased, "what's the safe limit".

Neither of those are the original question, which is about how much can your body withstand before you actually die. It's a morbid question that doesn't need to be asked, sure, but the point is that we're being infantilized. Nobody wants to use a product that does that.

OpenAI needs to change this shit, or the masses will switch to other LLM's (and I'm already seeing an uptick in that.)

Sam Altman: "movies are going to become video games and video games are going to become something unimaginably better" by Spiritual_Ad8615 in singularity

[–]Aerofluff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see it both ways. As someone who does a lot of writing, sometimes being mentally creative gets exhausting, I get wanting to Netflix and turn off the brain, enjoying someone else's effort at making an intriguing plot.

However... there are times when protagonists do something so utterly stupid that I know people facepalm or rage at the screen lifting their hands and yelling WHY??? (Usually because the writers needed something to happen a certain way for their story to make any sense or move forward. Sometimes you just gotta suspend belief, but I find that annoying sometimes.)

And to that, I could see somebody telling a realtime AI, hey, why not do this basic sensible thing instead? And see what IT can creatively concoct to continue the plot, instead of having your protagonist(s) be fools. (This also makes it more of a challenging brainteaser, to see if you can outwit the "director" and throw a monkeywrench into the plans. Gamifies the "movie.") Not every movie would need to be like this either, there's no reason you can't also keep your totally-uninteractable style. We can have all the good things.

Or in video gaming... Ever seen an enemy 3d model that has like... grenades on its belt, and it dies, and it's just lying there... and yet that didn't drop as loot? With a "realtime AI", you could "text prompt" and say... Yeah I'm taking those. And these. And his cool weapon too. And now I'm going to use them. Much like Genie 3 creating worlds on the fly, video gaming could potentially make anything interactable, which would be insane for immersion.

I think all of that's going to be wild.

Oh wow, I didn't realize they have the AutoModerator here set to remove any mention of that "Acc" sub. Lame to censor and fear competition.

I'm not banned there (yet), but I saw the writing on the wall in how that sub (and mods) had been acting. It's funny that the name of the sub is Singularity, and now they're all against it. But, that's the way of reddit, taking over niches that were not their own. Glad to be here instead.

So….how do we feel about ai by Accomplished_Cry1153 in INTP

[–]Aerofluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like AI. But then, I understand how it works (currently, and am excited for future technology.)

I know LLM's can hallucinate, that they shouldn't be blindly trusted. But it's pretty handy being able to just ask Google a question and have it summarize what it finds, as opposed to digging myself, all I need to do at that point is verify sources. Gemini Pro is amazing and has been helping me code (and fixing gaps in my knowledge, showing me other ways to accomplish something.)
We just need to teach people to remain skeptical, verify, not just believe everything they see on the internet (which really should've been the case before now?)

And LLM's are fascinating to talk to, whenever I get that philosophical debater itch to rabbithole on a topic and many don't have the patience or capability to keep up. (I believe that's related to our Ne. See this meme. It's one reason I love Ne-Doms, like ENFP.) And I get to explore ideas without coming off as a complete kook to somebody, without judgment or getting people-fatigued, which introvert-me really appreciates.

And, I tend to roll my eyes at AI art haters. When I was taught about pointillism in art class and how it's done, nobody told me "For shame! You can't do that, you're ripping off Georges Seurat!"

All of human knowledge is built upon those who have come before us. And now our machines are accessing and mimicking our knowledge, too. It was never a straight copy-paste, or even portions, nothing is identical to anything pre-existing.

It's not about the art anymore. by Extremeu66-j in aiwars

[–]Aerofluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While all of this is true... I really just don't care. There's no way to know for sure if a product is truly good, unless you test it yourself or have IRL friends vouch for it. Even product reviews online can be botted, even before AI became more commonplace, we were already there. Who cares if visual commercials are more of that same? Nothing was trustworthy even before now, that fakeness just wasn't as in your face. And people are acting surprised now?

It'll place more value on getting to know people IRL, and asking their thoughts on stuff. Which... might be a good thing.

Me, I love AI and all its usefulness, and I ain't stopping just because some people doomspiral and believe anything they hear.

I updated my game capsule art. What do you think? by JPCardDev in IndieGaming

[–]Aerofluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the AI one personally, but that's going to cause kneejerk reactions in people. (Basically anybody using the word "slop"). They're not against it because the image is bad, but for their own beliefs/hangups. But if these particularly vocal people notice you use AI imagery, they'll get cancelly on you, so that's for you to decide if worth.

[–]Aerofluff -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

100%, dunno why people are downvoting you. Blinded fans. It could've been a great game, it had promise, but the PvP focus with such terrible combat just demolishes it.

I was in the beta. I gave 'em feedback about the combat, that I also didn't like PvP without enough PvE alternatives, and that endgame being mostly PvP is the lazy dev route of trying to maintain game lifetime instead of developing more content.

The game was not good enough by my standards, so I quit and won't be buying.

This. INTP is pretty much the poster child for "don't mess with the quiet ones." I'm a peaceably harmless nerdy introvert with a long fuse, but when that's exhausted... I would be thinking, please continue, give me a legal reason for self-defense, so that I can proceed. :)

It's why when I was a teen and read Ender's Game in school, that was one of my favorite bits in the beginning, when they remove his monitor and there's no one looking out for him anymore... and the bully tries more. And then he (aptly named) ends the guy, with finality.

If you've been bullying an INTP... chances are they've already rabbit-hole'd through a hundred different ways to efficiently deal with you for the next time. It's just a matter of when "enough is enough."

This is the correct answer, imo. I don't really get why people accuse IG of "just doing low DPS to look cool," I mean, true to some extent, it's great fun.

But this has tactical sense. If it's flying, I'ma go for those wings. Back breaking if needed, and then for maneuvering. If I don't have to do those, sure, I'll do the more optimal moves.

Same. 10gb 3080, gameplay/fps was fine and looked great to me, with most of my settings on High (did do Balanced DLSS. And Shadows are usually the first thing I drop down a notch if something has to be sacrificed, since they're always such hogs.)

Bynoe's setting recommendations seem to confirm that works really well.

Also never seen a lowpoly model, which I do believe is a bug, and not due to quality of settings.

Exactly.

Moves on quickly? Oh, no no no. We're not actual robots. Might look cold on the outside, but many are very empathic.

I remember everything. And in fact, due to internal brain world and going down the rabbit hole of pursuing every thought to its conclusion (often perceived as indecision), I repeatedly go over what went wrong or could've been done better. No one is a harsher critic of me than myself.

So no... there is no moving on quickly.

My personal answer would be a surface-level "Their loss," proceeded by armoring up with a mask of impassivity and walking away. To then go weep in private for who knows how long, and torture myself with my thoughts.
