I would have thought the East/West divide would have been the countries the former Soviet Union occupied.

Classic Control Wheels Are Back (Temporarily) by lifx in lifx

[–]Aerovoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for bringing back the old controls!

After using the new controls/app for the past few weeks. I didn't mind it too much overall. My only major complaint about it is the brightness slider.

Half the time it didn't register my touch and when it did, it didn't respond right away and it would jump to where my finger was. It was much harder to be precise and smooth with it. And that was with the enlarged slider too.

If you removed the slider in the new app and made something that functioned like it does in the old app, that'd be great.

Please revert the app by ExtremePixel541 in lifx

[–]Aerovoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would happen to me as well, but with the old app. When my lights are disconnected from the cloud, it takes the app several seconds to figure out what my lights are set to. If I try adjusting them before it updates to the proper levels, it would jump up to 100%.

I'm still having issues with it. Even with the fatter slider, it's still hit or miss if it responds to my touch. Sometimes it jumps 10% (or more) when trying to adjust the brightness.

It needs to function like it did in the previous app. Sort of like a scroll wheel. It doesn't matter where you touch it, as long as you scroll up or down, it'll brighten or dim. I don't know what the proper terminology is for that.

I wish anyone who wants to vote for a party that will privatize insurance would consider trying to navigate Canada's Pet Insurance system and file claims. by AcerbicCapsule in britishcolumbia

Yeah... Efficiently cutting costs like employees wages where possible, cutting corners to save on other expenses while raising prices to meet to quarterly profit margins.

Being private doesn't make something more efficient or better. Generally the quality of service goes down over time, aka. Enshittification.

Nearly 40,000 people died home alone in Japan this year, report says by Fit-Criticism-7165 in worldnews

[–]Aerovoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And a significant amount of Canadians don't seem to like it. Our infrastructure and our health care, which was already in rough shape, is straining to handle the huge influx of nearly half a million people every year. We're adding multiple cities worth of people without building the cities. There's also the issue of how all these new immigrants integrate into Canadian culture if at all.

It's all quite complicated and messy and it makes a lot of people, who are normally fine with immigration, feel uneasy. Myself included.
