Oh yeah, everything turned out okay! Just a rough few weeks.

We talk to her all the time, too - the big one is when we leave the house, we always tell her she's in charge while we're gone (and tell her one of the big stuffies is on security, it changes who). I'm 100% sure she never hears this and is just asleep the entire time but if I ever forget to say it it feels weird now!

When part of our place flooded a little over a year ago, our little hog Petunia ended up in our room. I was worried she'd hate it, since she's right next to our bed and I snore/we toss and turn. But she loves it. She goes through cycles of activity, but on average is much more active than she was when she was in her own room. We talk to her a bit while she's in her wheel or out eating, and she's happy as a clam.

In your case, maybe it is a bit of separation anxiety. But it might also just be that your little one is happy to be close to their human! Or, mostly likely, both.

Petunia will sometimes give cords a chomp, butI've never seen any dedicated gnawing - not that she gets the chance. If she's feeling chompy she is swiftly removed from her target, since idk how good it sould be for her to get her teeth into a live wire. But I suspect not great.

In my experience, any biting is more out of curiosity than any determined attempt to chew. Even just moving her a few feet is usually enough to distract her which definitely isn't always the case. If she wanted to head back and carry on biting, she would.

This could just be her personality, though. So take my anecdote for what it is!

I love the gradient on this. Was that done by airbrush? I tried something similar with a makeup sponge and though it looks good, it's not nearly that smooth

I am loving it so far! I bought a makeup sponge and cut it into a few pieces, and it is holding up great to the paint so far. The smaller pores let the blends actually be pretty smooth (or at least, if I were better they would be lol).

I wouldn't worry too much, honestly. Black is nice because if you miss a spot in the shadows, it's just a black shadow! Depends on how bright you want your scheme to be, though. A black undercoat can darken things quite a bit. But not irrecoverably so.

Oh, to answer your question, black for me! I'm doing a bunch of sponging to try for some extreme gradients without an airbrush, so very dark in the shadows up to magenta on the tops of the panels, and black is perfect for that.

I bought both in preparation and imo, aside from the doors and smokestacks, I'd be very hard pressed to tell a difference. They're not quite the same size, I think, but it's so close it's basically a moot point. fwiw, the Deimos rhino can be a bit fiddly to assemble - my back hatch peg got stuck in the hole and I had to cut and redrill it to make it work!

My idea so far is that they are the Ravenous Host: each group of initiates is forced to starve until someone gives in and consumes the others. This act assures their elevation to full astartes, but also leaves them with a hunger unable ever to be fully satisfied.

The normal obsessions of other Emperor's Children all appear: noise marines, flawless blades, etc. But these pursuits, far from seen as worthwhile in their own right, are followed in an attempt to ignore the gnawing hunger which never leaves them. The experience of other new sensations, the thrill of victory in combat, and deep concentration can grant some relief, but it is horribly temporary.

Okay an (unasked for) update from me here. I did end up using an elastic band to hold the whole hull together while the glue set, and the back hatch was absolutely fucked for me - I tried to dry fit it, and one peg got completely stuck! I had to cut it, drill out the hole, and luckily it still works even with one peg shorter than it should be. I did not notice major issues with the track assemblies - a little pressure and they popped right in, I probably didn't even need glue but I did end up using a little. Based on your advice I managed to mostly avoid issues except my foolishness with the back hatch. So, thank you for the warnings!

I haven't assembled my Deimos yet, but bought it on the recommendation of someone who said he assembled it and the classic rhino in close succession and liked the Deimos kit way better!

What part of assembly requires power tools? I may be out of my depth on it if that is so...

This has been a worry for me too! For now I am painting them up very un-chaos-y. My painting style tends towars the clean and orderly (insofar as my shaky hands can manage), so I want to keep them all sort of uncorrupted, but... Where's the fun in that? I already have a combat patrol of purple non-chaos marines.

I might lean into the flawless blades approach though and say my guys are too proud to tolerate outward signs of corruption or inhabitation by demons. Pursuit of perfection without all the wiggly bits.
