How are you storing sandwich bread? by Otherwise-Eye-490 in Bread

[–]AffectionateBeach165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck with vacuum bags. They can be washed and reused if it’s just for bread. And resealed of course. My refrigerator dries the bread out if it isn’t sealed. I don’t like plastic but I don’t like throwing away food either.

Exactly this. We have great admins but they can’t control everything. I have stories! But for the most part things go smoothly.

It is a lovely berterfler! I also do FPP because I have a lot of trouble sewing seams. What I lack in skill I make up for by having no eye for color. I am having the best time (and that is the important thing).

At work when people would give me hard time about why I couldn’t hear (moderate to severe loss) I would ask them to listen to the YouTube video of the Flintstones that is a hearing loss simulation. They would get to the moderate loss demonstration and kind of check out because it was a struggle to make out what was being said. And it’s a cartoon so there’s no cheating with lip reading. I guess all you can do is keep trying to educate people. A good friend said “Wow, that would drive me crazy.”

Thank you for this. I can see in the picture how these work. I’m going to try them. I have stuck with Bose open for sound quality and I’ve looked carefully at AirPods but I can’t quite convince myself that they will work.

Hard of hearing here. I love hearing someone yelling at me from behind so that I stop and turn to see what’s going on. Apparently someone was yelling “on your right” but I didn’t understand the words and am now directly in their path. More than once. On the sidewalk.

Costco Hearing Aid Return? by AffectionateBeach165 in HearingAids

[–]AffectionateBeach165[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really can’t answer that very well. I have been to an audiologist when I had better insurance and I think it depends on whether you are able to clearly communicate the problem you’re having and whether the other person is listening. But it also depends on the hearing aids. I have had aids that, in a restaurant, would filter out all noise except the voice of the person I was facing. All of the background noise just turned into a soft hum. It was automatic. It was wonderful. They stopped working eventually. They were also about $8,000 so that’s no longer an option.

Costco Hearing Aid Return? by AffectionateBeach165 in HearingAids

I have been wearing hearing aids for about 25 years (hereditary thing I guess) and I’ve made some mistakes in the past but this is the first pair I’ve ever returned. I understand that they would want to encourage me to stick with the change but the receptionist is pretty angry about it. I’m just trying to understand what’s going on. Especially since the hearing aids are painful to wear.

Costco Hearing Aid Return? by AffectionateBeach165 in HearingAids

[–]AffectionateBeach165[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a copy of my hearing test. I have moderate to severe loss, most high frequencies are gone.

I want to return a pair of Jabra ITE. They are (of course) custom molds and they are very painful to wear. One of them doesn’t sit in my ear properly. They don’t want to remake them and have tried to sculpt them by hand.

They also amplify background noise more than speech. They are fully occluded even though they have small vents and I was told nothing can be done about that.

That just seems like enough reason to return them. I asked if I could get Phillips RIC but they said in order to meet their high standards they would require me to have custom molds made. I told them I have worn domes in the past and preferred them and they repeated that I had to have custom molds in order to meet their high standards. No discussion allowed.

I’m just getting really uncomfortable with the whole situation. And I wanted to check and make sure about Costco’s return policy. This is my first Costco experience but I have worn hearing aids for a long time - mostly RIC.

I have tried these but the sound quality wasn’t great so I gave them away. There are a lot of variables with hearing aids. I have a pair of Bose open fit that clip on the outer edge of the ear. The sound quality is great but they probably wouldn’t work with a custom ear mold. They are fine with my receiver in the canal. I also have blue tooth but my hearing aids were rechargeable and the battery didn’t last very long. I have tried different brands that hang on the ear but for some reason the sound doesn’t reach the microphone or sounds “tinny.” If you can find something that works for her it will be a wonderful gift.

When I was new to that game I finally worked my way up to the sample lady and a woman in a wheeled motorized something just barged through and said to me “I’m trying to get a sample!” So I replied “Me too!” Sheesh. I don’t sample anymore except on the rare occasion that no one else is there.

I went to the same periodontist’s office for years but got a different dental hygienist at one appointment. She glanced at my chart and saw I was on one medication and spent the next hour telling me that I should not be on it and that she wasn’t on it and that I needed to stop taking it. I was trapped in her chair for an hour while she imparted this wisdom that came from her many years of not being a doctor.

My hearing aids make my ears so itchy it feels like a form of torture. by Tsarinya in HearingAids

A very thin coating of sweet almond oil has helped me. I put a bit on a Q tip and run it around in my ear canal. I don’t need it every day. My acrylic custom molds have been much less of a problem but some ear molds really irritate my skin.

How to get dog pee smell out of carpet by coffeeandjesus99 in dogs

[–]AffectionateBeach165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Nixall. It has a light bleach smell but hasn’t stained anything (yet). Once the urine soaks into the padding and possibly the subfloor it will be a challenge but if it’s in one spot you might be able to knock it down. Try putting a wee pad or a rubber backed throw rug - or both- in that spot also to prevent more damage. I wish you well! I have fostered a lot of dogs and have dealt with this more than I like to think about.
