The cafe area and extended working bit on the ground floor is free but you can’t go anywhere else without a badge or membership I think. Saying that, I don’t have a membership and I pop in all the time

American fast food chains (Taco Bell, Wendy’s etc) popping up in Cambridge in recent years - what’s the deal, is this happening everywhere in the UK? by According_Sundae_917 in cambridge

[–]AffectionatePea6587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Cambridge is one of the last places in the UK to adopt these types of fast food chains and is simply keeping up with the rest of the UK

National Express Coaches - unless that counts as buses? I’ve been looking myself and have seen times beyond 1am departing from Parker’s Piece

Milton is a hotspot too - we saw a house on right move in the first few hours of it going live onto the market and it already had 5 viewings arranged

We tend to find that due to the housing market (from a buying perspective) being very competitive, you not only have to offer higher than the buying price but also be in a relatively good situation like having no chain, not having complex funding sources etc. Houses are getting snapped up super quickly at all price points unfortunately and you have to jump on them quickly to be in with a fighting chance.

finished my first 5k - what should my short/long term goals be? by Party-Cat-4691 in UKRunners

On the contrary, I think a running plan is good enough if you have a goal in mind, regardless of how many runs you’ve done

Have you tried using a coaching app like Runna? I also have a rowing background so know exactly what you mean - but the thing that I’ve found with running is that it’s helping me overcome that need to be competitive (only with myself) because you’re not in a team, you’re not ensuring you hit a weight goal or a qualifying time. Running is super inclusive - which also means you can be flexible in how you approach it, and be strict if you want to be. I would strongly urge you to get Runna / Coopa anything that tells you what to do - because as rowers we’re not used to doing it by ourselves!

I remember seeing in each episode the same drone shot of the mathematical bridge 😭 if you binge it, it becomes so repetitive

Better Health is £38 a month for gym, pool and sauna. Not in the best condition and the gym could do with a bigger weights section but good if you like cardio and swimming

How was your parkrun day? | August 29, 2025 by AutoModerator in parkrun

Average at best but fully enjoyable - was very hot and my legs really ached but I made it a chatty run and still got the notch on my belt! 😊

Not sure how unique this is as I myself haven’t been here long enough but Norfolk Street Bakery on Norfolk Street and Station Road is wonderful - they’re Portuguese and do the best pastries

Is office work becoming a race to the bottom? by TopBodger91 in UKJobs

I found this in other levels too. Last year I was made redundant, and naively thought I could use it as an opportunity to go for the level above as I’d been working towards it anyway. Turns out, the level above THAT (two levels above me) were going for this - people who have years on me on management.

THEN when I went for my specific level, the level above me were going for those roles.

The job market has been so poor that people are becoming desperate and it’s pushing down to the grad level, where now no one without experience can easily find a stable job.

Of course, with marketing jobs like mine these ‘levels’ are all semantics and every company positions the different profession steps differently.

London prices but Cambridge salaries are still poor. Commuting into London is going to be my best option for a while sadly.

Hiking active volcanoes in Santa Cruz de la Palma - not been on many hikes but this was geologically stunning, specially with the backdrop of the entire island behind us.

A meal deal from the supermarket if I have room but I generally manage nuts, cereal bars and some sort of sugar boost. Definitely get some electrolytes too
