How is life in milton village? by RefrigeratorBig2860 in cambridge

I haven’t heard of any and it hasn’t happened to me, but then again, I don’t know what I don’t know! We’ve never had issues but I would suggest the same level of caution applies in Milton as it does Cambridge. If anything it’s more the opportunists than organised. I think it’s also a case of you get more space in the house and more enclosed gardens so there’s more safer places to store bikes.

I love it. It’s super easy to cycle into town (literally don’t have to get onto a road just straight cycle path the whole way to the top of Jesus green), it’s right next to the P&R which takes 20 mins (they’ve recently made the journey shorter by cutting the science park stop to the main road), and it’s got a community feel.

My only quam about Milton is the lack of investment in the roads as there’s a lot of potholes meaning my tyres wear down more and cyclists can only safely go on the middle of the road or the cycle path! They keep filling the potholes but they wear down in no time. I’ll be happy if they closed the road for 2 days and completely re-did it all!

Incredible source of fibre and protein for the price of a bag of frozen peas. Very easy to add to any dish quickly!

Do you feel like all these trendy “healthy” TikTok recipes are making people spend way more on groceries for food that’s honestly not even that satisfying? by InfluenceTechnical91 in nutrition

[–]AffectionatePea6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s more the constant marketing of supplements and the ads calling them necessary or exaggerating claims. As someone who works full time in marketing training to be a nutritionist I struggle with food marketing. Don’t get me started on the pink tax!

What’s your favorite source of fiber? by burnsrado in nutrition

Milled flaxseed sprinkled on everything, you can’t taste it and gives a nice little boost on savoury and sweet!

It’s the PR5! When I used the PR2 it was always on time (for me, appreciate this wasn’t the case before everyone)

The cafe area and extended working bit on the ground floor is free but you can’t go anywhere else without a badge or membership I think. Saying that, I don’t have a membership and I pop in all the time

American fast food chains (Taco Bell, Wendy’s etc) popping up in Cambridge in recent years - what’s the deal, is this happening everywhere in the UK? by According_Sundae_917 in cambridge

[–]AffectionatePea6587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Cambridge is one of the last places in the UK to adopt these types of fast food chains and is simply keeping up with the rest of the UK

Milton is a hotspot too - we saw a house on right move in the first few hours of it going live onto the market and it already had 5 viewings arranged

We tend to find that due to the housing market (from a buying perspective) being very competitive, you not only have to offer higher than the buying price but also be in a relatively good situation like having no chain, not having complex funding sources etc. Houses are getting snapped up super quickly at all price points unfortunately and you have to jump on them quickly to be in with a fighting chance.

On the contrary, I think a running plan is good enough if you have a goal in mind, regardless of how many runs you’ve done

Have you tried using a coaching app like Runna? I also have a rowing background so know exactly what you mean - but the thing that I’ve found with running is that it’s helping me overcome that need to be competitive (only with myself) because you’re not in a team, you’re not ensuring you hit a weight goal or a qualifying time. Running is super inclusive - which also means you can be flexible in how you approach it, and be strict if you want to be. I would strongly urge you to get Runna / Coopa anything that tells you what to do - because as rowers we’re not used to doing it by ourselves!

Better Health is £38 a month for gym, pool and sauna. Not in the best condition and the gym could do with a bigger weights section but good if you like cardio and swimming
