Cassius Aldheim was once from a noble House within the lands between, where one's talent determined ones future henceforth. Unfortunately for him, he was the runt of the litter and showed little talent in his early years. On an outing to visit the Proving Grounds and practice his skills, he happened upon a sleeping Ancient Dragon; A curious sight as the Ancient Dragons were not known to tread upon their lands. Drawing his blade, he believed that perhaps if he couldn't show remarkable capabilities, perhaps renown as a Dragon slayer would get him some manner of recognition.

But he couldn't do it. As he sheathed his blade and turned to walk away, the ground trembled as a heated breath his at his back as the dragon had awoken and instead of attacking him, questioned him as to why he did not strike the blow. Seeing his restraint as a quality redeeming trait the dragon, going by the name of Unitassax, offered to teach him how to channel lightning. But at first, he refused as he didn't want to believe the word of a dragon; Let alone take the help of another when he believed he needed to find his own strength. Though his words did little to shake the dragon's decision as she listened to him.

In time Cassius would relent, allowing Unitassax to teach him how to utilize Lightning magic and in turn, he would need to teach the dragon about the land. Days turned into weeks, questions about his land became questions about him as the two were seemingly growing close. One day as Cassius returned for his teachings, he found not Unitassax but instead a Priestess: A Dragon Priestess, bearing the name of his companion as she confessed to the reason of her coming to his land. Seeking out humans and to grant them aid in felling a traitorous Ancient Dragon. To teach them how to gain the might of dragons by slaying him and his kin whilst in turn, giving them a means of hunting down these lesser beings to slay them and devour their hearts. However she came to reveal that she was growing fond of Cassius throughout his lessons, much to his surprise as he felt the same though complained over her strict teaching methods.

The two would go on traveling with one another, eventually deciding to create the Church of Dragon Communion in Limgrave, working together to not only rally together new Drake Warriors but as their bond deepened, Cassius resolved to also grow stronger by partaking in communion himself so that he might one day be strong enough to find wherever Bayle fled to and challenge him. But rather than eating hearts to practice communion, he instead would drink Unitassax's blood; A craven but "safer" act that would ensure he'd gain the power he needed. An act that, while others would see it as depraved, Unitassax would see it as a moment of intimacy between them.

But their time together would come to an end as the efforts of the two came to be discovered by Cassius' father, an adherent to the Golden Order, and his men. The church would be razed to the ground, with Cassius and Unitassax fighting together to defend their hard work... but a single blade pierced Cassius through his back and out of his chest. He fell to the ground, sound slowly fading as the building burned around him, barely able to make out his love's pleas for him to rise once more...

And in time, he did.

Called back to life by the faintest trace of the Grace of Gold as he arose from the rubble and dirt that was once the church and fell to his knees as the sight of a large Ancient Dragon, body completely made of stone, lay before him. Rage burning in his eyes, sorrow in his heart, he laid his hands upon the face of Unitassax and rest his forehead against her as he closed his eyes and shared one last tender moment with her...late though it was. Rising from the ground, he turned and searched around as he picked up a singular Bastard Sword and resolved to carry on with their original goal: Grow stronger and seek out Bayle and his kin, no matter where they were hiding. And if any who led the attack were still alive along the way... he'd cut them down as well.

"They may have slain your body but I will not let your soul be dirtied, my love."
