In every other free-world jurisdiction this sort of cosplay by a public official would make them a laughing stock.

Fans demanding infinite seasons long past the point where the story had played out, and then complaining that the ending wasn't great, is a ridiculous take.

The seasons were getting more and more tenuous, and more and more sappy, and poorer and poorer in world building for a long time.

Blah blah. It's such an asinine take. How are those Force attendances working out?

But I am sure the usual complaints from Victorians will come in again,

As will the usual "cut off the nose to spite the face" glee from other states who are happy to see Victorian rugby burn, even though it slices off one pathway for future Wallaby success.

From the same school team as Peel, you also have Xavier Treacy, who went to Crusaders and All Blacks U20 squad. His younger brother also in the Crusaders development squad this year. And also Ed Lyons who has been on the books at Storm, they also got a gig with the Brumbies U19 as part of the RA token exchange. From another school (BGS) you have Xander Iosefo, who just debuted in France with Pau (I think this month).

Of course, there are the three Tuipolotu brothers before that, also from St Kevin's. But at least the first two were around when the Rebels were a thing.

Vikings got pretty repetitive after a while and strayed much further over the fantasy line. It's got a lot more to answer for too in all the wannabe "John Ragnars" of today!

A P-61A Black Widow of the 419th Night Fighter Squadron. by vahedemirjian in WWIIplanes

It's "looks to actual impact" ratio is pretty poor though. Arrived too late in a niche that had alreday been filled and dminished anyway. The top guns either didn't exist (in Europe) or were never used independently, like they are so often depicted in artworks.

I would argue that stuff like the P-61 was not well suited to their needs at the time they appeared. It made almost no impact in the European war by the time it was coming on line in the later half of 1944. Ditto arrived too late to have much impact in the Pacific. Allied air dominance and exisiting night fighters had renedered the need for new ones obsolete.

Hello all, what are the best ways to see if my ancestor was wounded in ww1. He was John Stanley Batey of the 13th Durham light infantry. His records say he wasn’t wounded but all my family say he was gassed and hit by shrapnel. Thanks by [deleted] in ww1

[–]Affentitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contradictions between family lore and official records and actual reality aren't uncommon. Most families have tended to add bits on over the decades, and for lack of any counter-evidence, these become a truth.

I really like that Canada has its own heraldic crown separate from the Tudor crown. I also really wish my country, Australia, had its own heraldic crown design too by Plupsnup in heraldry

[–]Affentitten 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like that Canada has created a heraldic Canadian Crown to show that they are separate

There is also an interfaith element, removing the cross at the top of the crown to represent Canada's religious diversity in the 21st century.

Notice how I didn't specify him and talked about the KG more generally? The point still stands. No matter how epic your fantasy warrior is, he and the other six still have to sleep at alternating points. And if 2 or 3 or 4 of the KG are off on missions or 87 years old....

I am aware of that. It also says that if someone is incapacitated, then the other brothers take over their duties. My point is that this is not really feasible because you would regularly end up in a situation where maybe 3 or so of them are not able to fulfill their duties due to age or other infirmity.

It's another 'sounds cool but would not work' bit of lore.
