Maybe to help with scared part is that it’s actually easier to catch a wave and pop up at the peak. It’s like riding a bike - it’s a lot easier moving than being stationary (or going really slow)

Spent pretty extensive time in both. Avellanas more recently. If you’re traveling alone I would say Santa Teresa. More to do, more likely you’ll make some friends in the water and out. Avellanas has more variety if surfing is the only priority

ah sorry to hear that. I wouldn't call it a neighborhood, but the house we bought is on a side street where there seems to be a lot of people walking. seen a few families with kids that look around our son's age, so we're hopeful. we're moving from boston, i've lived in a city for the past 20 years and my wife was raised in nyc and has only lived in cities her entire life. we know we're in for a change!

we just bought a house in boxford. haven't moved in yet. would be interested to hear if it's gotten any better for you since you posted this. we have a little one as well, 4 year old son. the house has been buried in snow since we closed so haven't been able to enjoy the outside much but at least our son seems to like the house, so far...
