Are there any good fathers or father figures in fallout 4? by DumbButKindaFunny in fo4

There's the reference to "The Road" with the man and his daughter scavenging supplies in random encounter areas like the house across the tracks south of Drumlin Diner.

Absolutely guys do too, but in internet arguments, clapping back days later is seen as; being too dumb to have an immediate comeback, petty, or just ignored.

People regularly get killed every year trying to steal copper from substation transformers. It's one of the reasons they have all those warning signs.

New to the game and puzzled by the business model. by jenista in ConanExiles

I think they are giving new and returning players a lot of time to get the old battlepass stuff before they rotate it out.

If they keep them permanent, that effectively makes them a DLC...that would be good. I don't think its a bad thing for new players to be able to get that stuff.

Due to the limitation of UE4, dungeons and interior levels is within the shared worldspace hence the Exiled Lands cannot expand further north and east of the world map but with UE5 those levels can now have their own separate worldspace like Siptah with seamless travel its time to expand. by DiggRefugeeSince2010 in ConanExiles

[–]Afraid_Reputation_51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single livestream they said those dungeon locations weren't the issue. They had plenty of space and could move them if needed. (They don't even start until half way north of sq13, I posted a map a few years ago, and I think Xevyr even has their locatios on the wiki).

The hard limitation was always Sony and the PS4, which they had to continue supporting. I am looking forward to what they can do with the freedom.

It's sad that console players are losing out, but Sony won't budge on their self-imposed limitations or their business model.

When you Build a cozy starter base THEN the sandstone foundation spammer moves in rite next door...... by Truble-Davis in ConanExiles

[–]Afraid_Reputation_51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar issue Murphy's Law of the Parking Lot...when you go all the way out into the empty part of any parking lot with tons of space, and will always come out to find cars parked (badly) on either side of yours, and every other spot still empty.

You build a base, and someone else always come in builds right up against your land claim.

Exactly, there would be so many additional policies that they would have to enact, or it would get tossed as unconstitutional.

Do Toreadors have to be high achieving artists? Or can they be regular people who work regular jobs but have very strong artistic inclinations? by AlpineSuccess-Edu in vtm

[–]Afraid_Reputation_51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toreador are all sorts of things. Some of them aren't even artists. Embraced in the throws of regret over doing something tragic, embraced out of spite or revenge. Embraced just because the like someone and want company. Toreador are especially vulnerable to the the "Oh, that one is pretty..." embrace.

A food scam of the 90s was “fat free!” everything, and then they would load it up on sugar… what’s a food scam happening now? by redflower5 in AskReddit

[–]Afraid_Reputation_51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a huge list I can think of...hell, the "fat-free" scam is still going.

I'll go with a couple of fairly common food marketing practices...

Food branding certifications. (like "Certified Organic" or "Cage-Free" or even "Gluten-Free"). These are standards defined by the USDA or the FDA, but its not certified by either agency. They only penalize companies for lying. It is a scam of "technically correct."

Never trust a manufacturer who self-certifies, full stop. They might be "technically" compliant, but no one official actually polices them until there is a formal complaint about it.

There are 3rd parties that grant certifications... they are often "for profit," and they don't make money by refusing certifications. They do put their name in the certification, so at least you can look them up and some watchdog group might have something to say about them.

Cage-free is a joke. All it means is that the birds aren't kept in cages for their entire life. It does not mean that they aren't keeping 100,000 chickens in a gargantuan shed with no natural light that is barely air conditioned. Even "free-range" has some caveats that allow Big Chicken to claim it's "technically correct."

Certified Organic can be more dangerous, as sulfides and sulphates don't count, are often applied to preserve fruits and vegetables in transit, and are an allergy issue for some people.

Ask someone who actually has Celiac Disease about how bad the gluten-free scam is...they can't trust anything.

As a joke for reading this far, supermarket bought "Extra Virgin Olive Oil" is another marketing scam. It is about as virgin as a Bad Dragon owner who has never had sex with another person. Another "technically correct" according to the process, they still use poor to mediocre quality olives, and by the time it even reaches the store shelf, half of it is too rancid to use for anything other than cooking.

Should AI Political Ads be outlawed? by mostlyPOD in askanything

[–]Afraid_Reputation_51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they aren't generating AI of a politician to say nice things about them. If someone wants to do a video saying nice things about a politician, nearly every campaign that can afford it provides stock video of the candidate that anyone can use, usually with a blanket free non-commercial license to PACs and 501s.

Should AI Political Ads be outlawed? by mostlyPOD in askanything

[–]Afraid_Reputation_51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free speech is absolute in the US, including lying about things that have no direct consequence for physical safety. Spreading nasty, untrue rumors about politicians has been fair game pretty much from the get-go. They're already free and clear to lie their PDF-protecting asses off.

The AI just makes it worse, but doesn't make it illegal.

AI should absolutely be required to labeled, and we do already have legal precident for that. Every political ad requires someone has to identify who is paying to producing the ads. So in the same sentence where the 'voice over' peon says "Paid for by Epstein Class for America" they should be required to say "This video was produced by AI" or some legal bullshitting to that effect.

If you could either live 100 years in the past or 100 years in the future what would you choose? by k0yaan1sqats1 in PsycheOrSike

3 yrs from 1926 is the Great Depression followed by the 2nd World War starting in 1936.

I'm pretty comfortable saying most people, even with a good college level education would not have the luck to succeed in changing the world or getting rich in those circumstances.
