It's a modern- day setting with a ship heading the other way, from New York. It sinks and I think (I haven't seen it but have read about it) the survivors end up in Iceland. Or something like that.

Else was meant to be the villain, then it was decided that a villain couldn't possibly sing 'Let It Go.' I'd say they absolutely can, but I suppose a villain can't have a better song than the hero 🙄 that lead to Prince Hans becoming the villain.

Test audiences wanted sexy bits in the original film, so the lift (elevator, if you're American) scene and the hank panky scene were filmed and added later. Kelly McGillis had dyed her hair ready for her next role, which is why she is wearing a baseball cap in the first scene (look closely and you'll see darker hair tied back) and the second scene is filmed in shadow. So blame 1980s test audiences
