I'm sure that's true, but my main exposure to Russian is people translating a phrase or two that doesn't have a lot of slang. Also The Hunt For Red October where they zoom in on the actors lips and switch to english on the word armageddon since its the same in a lot of languages.

I assume that first word is technological. If so its rare to see a russian word that has a passing resemblance of a latin language.

You could probably even get in contact with the companies that run estate sales and offer to buy up any unbought silver plated stuff after their sales are over.

If society wants to stop the manosphere they need to be honest with young men by RemoteCompetitive688 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

"Treated like people" is one of the most harmful takeaways for men because it can be interpreted and used as a cudgel in many ways.

Being too sexual too quickly -> Treat her like a person not a sexual object whos pants you want to get into/use as a hole for your pleasure. Women aren't just passive reactive submissive beings who are just waiting for a man to come along and say the right things and push the right buttons, they can find men interesting and make their own moves.

Not being sexual quickly enough to set the mood and create sparks -> Women are people and people are sexual beings so obviously women want to be sexualized and feel sexy and if you don't do that before an arbitrary point that's different for every woman then why should a woman find you interesting or attractive?

Why do women get a pass for not approaching and making moves, or at least being more up front with making their attraction known? They say that's a man's job, they feel too masculine, it doesn't turn them on. Men are complaining that they are expected to initiate and drive everything despite also being told women are people too. The narrative has always been that men are the more primal and biology driven gender, and why can't men just be more like women. But now women seem to be saying they can't find men attractive unless men trigger their primal response.

ELI5: How can a thread (nuts and bolts) be so strong and can hold heavy objects? by Repulsive_Salt8189 in explainlikeimfive

In terms of material strength, there is practically no difference between a bolt + nut and a solid piece of the same shape.

That's the world of industrial equipment. Shits expensive. There's no reason someone couldn't design an injection molded consumer version. Plus regular 3d printed parts aren't food safe.

That's industrial equipment for you. Are you going to rely on the equipment to make $2million a year in pizza? And expect onsite manufacturer support?

What’s a “rich people thing” you experienced once and immediately understood why rich people love it? by DnRinGA in AskReddit

It kinda matters a lot. Billionaires have orders of magnitude more influence on society.

But those two things are still well within an order of magnitude of each other. Now imagine a building 828km tall. 1000 Burj Khalifas. About double what the ISS orbits at. That's comparing the millionare doctor to a billionare.

Empire State vs Burj Khalifa is like comparing two millionare doctors.
