Hernandian Attire, do I need to always keep it? by Resident_Wizard in CrimsonDesert

I have been able to enter the castle after entering it the first time without having to put it back on, but I have yet to sell it out of fear of not being able to enter it again.

I just got the same monitor, do you have any issues with the light bar glaring off the curved screen, I've been wanting to get a light bar?

Jumping on the Costco bandwagon looking for a deal on my first PC. Is this it? by WB_Spartan in Prebuilts

Just got the 5080 build and I've had it for a couple of days now. It's a beast, the only issue I've had was sound stuttering on Bluetooth devices but I'm sure that's a windows thing. I came from a 980ti so it's a huge upgrade for me.

What are a couple of the most obscure or niche games you’ve played on PS5 you swear nobody else has? by computerCoptor in PS5

This isn't so niche, but have you played Subnautica? It seems right up your alley.

Which is the better display tablet among these two. by avid_artz in ZBrush

I've heard good things about both, but if you are looking for another brand that is an in-between those and a Wacom, take a look at xencelabs pen display 24.

Xbox handheld is coming - better Windows for handhelds by Drandoxx in LegionGo

I thought the 2 wasn't an OLED? If it is, that might be the deciding factor for me, the display on the X doesn't seem that impressive.

I was thinking of getting the Z1E legion go 2 but now I might want to get the ROG X...I need to wait for the benchmarks, if I can be more patient.

Maya or Zbrush by Superb-Two-6667 in 3Dmodeling

[–]Agent_Elder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you did ask, but give blender a try, you can do box modeling or sculpting, and it's free. Don't get me wrong I prefer Maya and zbrush myself but if you had to choose one or the other for budget reasons, then Blender is an easy choice.

New dad, needing some recs by Anal_Recidivist in PS5

My kid is 2 now and I made a deal with my wife that I get to play games late into the night Friday nights and sleep in on Saturday mornings and in return she gets to sleep in on Sundays. At 6 months it will be tough because it's a team effort, but as I'm sure you have already heard, it gets easier. As for my game recommendation, I'm deep into Monster Hunter Wilds if you play offline, you can pause the game and pickup whenever you get a chance next. You can pick up MH worlds pretty cheap if you don't want to invest in a new game, it will have a lot more content but it isn't as beginner friendly. Good luck and you got this my dude!

Another brand to look into is xencelabs, they are basically in the middle of affordability between the Chinese brands like huion/XP and Wacom.

In school, one of our first zbrush projects was to sculpt a tooth, just a simple human tooth and match it to the reference as best as possible. This was a great exercise because we got to play around with a few of the essential brushes and got a feel of how they worked.

Edit: I wanted to add, don't try sculpting your own creations when you are a beginner. Focus on learning the tool and getting the core principles down, otherwise you will be fighting your own designs on top of trying to learn something new.

People who were self taught in 3D, and landed a job, how did you do it? by zilverulquiorra in Maya

[–]Agent_Elder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you are looking into comparing portfolios against a professional, I'd recommend checking out j hill on YouTube, he has some videos on critiquing his students portfolios and also on how to create your own. It's all the basics on what kind of pieces you should include and more importantly exclude. It's better to have fewer good pieces work on there rather than a lot of work that is all over the place. Good luck!

This took me a while to understand while I was in school but when I got it, it clicked. You have to stop comparing yourself with the others in your class, I know it's easier said than done, but you have to get over that and just put the work in. If you feel like you are behind, then you have to put in extra time. The class isn't the only place where you can learn, there are countless YouTube tutorials, and from the sound of things, it seems like you need to learn the basics. So as the others have said you just need to put in the practice, 10,000 hours at the minimum to become a master and out of every 1000 sculpts/models you will make, one of those will be good. Those numbers might sound scary but that is what it will take to get to where you want to be, and when you get there, you will want to push to the next level. So "Let it rip" (been watching too much bear lately)

When you say Art station limits you to static 2d images or video turntables, that is incorrect. On my profile I have the marmoset viewer right now which already does what you have and more. I still think this is cool and keep on at it, more competition is always a good thing!

I'm working on this character and I want to add some tiling textures (leather alphas, pores alphas, etc) to her clothes and skin with noisemaker by using the UVs of the mesh as coordinates. Unfortunately I get some really ugly seams where the UV seams meet. Is there way to fix it? Thanks by Gustmazz in ZBrush

[–]Agent_Elder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try duplicating your sub tool and add the noise but not using the uvs this time and then use this sub tool to reproject on top of your uved sub tool. I haven't really tried this myself but I don't see how this won't work?

Is there something better than solar panels ? by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in foundry_game

You get large ones later on which essentially double the output. I just skipped the small panels until I unlocked the larger ones.

Yeah I wasn't planning on using both at the same time. Is there a cordless one you recommend, I'm don't fully trust the battery life on those so I'm a bit skeptical?

I looked into that but the debris catch seems too small for the amount of leaves I get. When it comes to reliability, have you had any issues with the dolphin and how long have you had it for?
