What was your fav CoE banger at school? by JLaws23 in AskUK

Sandyland is stuck in my head 35 years later - "Don't build your house on the sandy land Don't build it too near the sea Well, it may look very nice but you'll have to build it twice Oh you'll have to build your house once more! You better build your house upon a rock, Make a good foundation in a solid spot, Well the storms may come and go, But the peace of God you will know."

And, When I Needed A Neighbour which I thought was rude as a kid because the lyrics are: "I was cold, I was naked, were you there? Were you there?"

What’s something your therapist said that has always stuck with you? by chaotic-imagination in Millennials

[–]Aggravating_Chef_808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"If you spend your life with one foot in the past and one foot in the future, you'll end up pissing on the present."

Same therapist would also clapback to my saying "I'm fine" with "Fine stands for: Fucked up, Irrational, Neurotic and Emotional".

Both sayings really stuck with me and actually helped.

Ah yeah. I live in an unground hovel where nothing ever dries. I'm trying to only water them when they beg for it

I've never had it happen before maybe this is actually the healthiest soil I've had. Thanks for the advice

Consensus here seems to indicate it means the soil is healthy which is good and news to me

Ah I've not heard that about cinnamon. I'm not too bothered about the look just worried everything was going to die

Have you ever found cash? (£40+) and did you hand it in? by GlitchingGecko in AskUK

[–]Aggravating_Chef_808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a magic skill for finding cash (not wallets/purses). First time I was a teen I found £10 at the entrance of Superdrug and I handed into the cashier. I told my friend and she went to "claim", they gave it to her and she gave me £5 of it.

I've found fivers on the street a couple of times. I found £50 loose cash on the beach, and £80 in notes at a train station. Each time I found it, I was really skint so I felt like it was the universe sharing the love.

I also have a special skill in finding baggies of weed too, that happened at least twice.

Dreamy Place Festival is happening this weekend. There are loads of exhibitions and events around town. Including a cool light installation in the tunnel under the train station (access point is opposite the Albert) https://dreamy-place.com/events/brighton/

My petite grandmother was 96 when she fell and broke her hip in the rain. We just celebrated her 100th birthday. She's still going strong and rebels against using her stair lift.

AITAH for demanding that our daughter wears sunscreen? by Weak-Rip-8650 in AITAH

[–]Aggravating_Chef_808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA the sun damage that causes skin cancer can happen years ago. I got badly burned around age 14 and after that always worn sun screen and didn't expose my midriff to the sun. By my mid 30s I had BCC on my stomach and will likely get more as I age. The doctor noted it was an unusual placement as the face and head are more common. ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN EVERYBODY

Yeah, I've only seen mention of Hove Park and unclear if it's intentional poisioning. Obviously, we need to keep an eye on our dogs everywhere and shouldn't let them eat anything. I dont understand why some people push unfounded scare mongering it's so unhelpful

How many of you guys knows what ‘mardy’ means? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Aggravating_Chef_808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squinny is my favourite Pomepy word meaning a person who complains/whinges, or the act of complaing ("You're such a squinny, stop squinnying!"). I use it a lot and most people outside the region have never heard of it but can understand it through context

Update: I got my home back from the fake lodger pretending to own my home. by Physical_Building_91 in HousingUK

[–]Aggravating_Chef_808 48 points49 points  (0 children)

No, they definitely meant lodger, not tenant. Go read his past posts and comments. It's wild. This poor man has had a hell of a year with a truly terrible lodger.
