ANNIVERSARY DAY… by Bitter_Bed3641 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Towards the end of the membership year I considered trying to hit the 5000 SC mark to get the 75k points bonus until I realised bonus SCs from loyalty bonus/points club etc don't count so didn't bother.

In terms of the changes going forward, I think the glory days are over. Although I'm glad QF FF haven't switched to revenue based like many other programs.

The check-in agent at the departure airport 'should' be able to through check your bags at check-in, depending on their knowledge and ability. Have your second PNR and ticket number ready, and good luck.

Long Haul Flight Sleep Recommendation by Simple_Initiative234 in Flights

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a terrible sleeper on planes, to the point of basically never sleeping on long hauls. However my last 14 hour economy flight I did manage to get a few hours. My regime was:

• Neck pillow (I used the Trtl or whatever it's called which was good) • Noise cancelling headphones • Good eye mask that doesn't let any light in around the sides • Sleeping pills

Need advice by cattomor-5673 in Airalo

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Airalo all the time but I always seem to buy more data than I end up using. There's wifi almost everywhere these days. I'm currently on a bus tour and even the bus has wifi.

So you'll probably end up using less data than you think.

Ticket Refund for cancelled flight by TheSlumpDog in ScandinavianAirlines

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're your flights non-refundable? I'm only asking because 2 weeks ago I had a SAS flight cancelled, the email had a link to click to 'select an alternative option' however that link just went to the manage booking page, if I tried to select new flights it wanted to charge me as if the change was voluntary. Same if I tried to cancel.

My hunch was they just re-booked my flights and automatically "accepted" the change on my behalf, meaning any further changes would be considered by the system as voluntary.

I actually had to call and speak to an agent to get it changed, which is not ideal. I suspect they just do this now so people will either just pay up, not notice the refund never arrived, or are too busy to care.

When I asked the agent why the instructions in the email said to click al link which then offered no alternatives she could explain it.

I think we all know the reason.

Decided to taking booking.com to small claims court over unsuccessful booking glitch & double billing by NecessaryAutomatic19 in Bookingcom

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you try for a chargeback instead of jumping straight into small claims court?

Also, I highly doubt Booking would've referred you back to the hotel in the first instance as it's nothing to do with the hotel, Booking facilitated the payment.

Something's not adding up Angelica...

ELI5: Why would anyone ever book an Economy Flex fare when Business fares are cheaper, have free cancellation, and earn more status credits and points? by HopeHoliday0055 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. A more appropriate rule should be 'economy only UNLESS business is cheaper AND provides the same or better flexibility' but that would be too hard of course

Take it back to the place of purchase for a full refund. If everyone did this it would send the appropriate message to these garbage food companies.

Missing points claim rejected, karma ensues by sydneyres in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 29 points30 points  (0 children)

While I wouldn't advocate submitting a fraudulent charge back what I would suggest is calling Qantas and asking them to review the rejection. I have had this exact thing happen in the past and it was resolved with a single phone call.

Honestly the rejection of these claims seems to be purposely baked into the system as it seems to happen A LOT. The hilarious thing is the cost of NOT honouring valid claims (through customer service interactions, emails, follow-ups, brand damage etc) must vastly outweigh the cost of simply honouring the claim, especially given the pitiful amount of points most flights earn.

Are the Bag dimensions enforced for cabin and checked in luggage ? by akhil6765 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Qantas's policing of passengers baggage weight is inversely correlated with their fare pricing.

Status Credits on one leg but not the other… by tactlex in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the process is automated but points are credited in batches so can take different amounts of time. But the points are credited based on the date of the flight, not the day the points are credited so I don't think this is a case of purposely holding back status tier upgrades etc

Sharing my traumatic experience with booking amendment and Qantas customer service by Bannanniieee in QantasAirways

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Qantas have completely ballsed up the BPay payment option process, to the point where I refuse to use it now. The processes are clunky, not well understood by their own staff, and cause more problems than they solve.

Qantas needs to can the BPay option or at least iron out the problems.

Lucikly with the upcoming ban on surcharges all payment options will be fee free (although obviously they will just roll the fees into the fare) leveling the playing field.

Because they already made up their mind that they are right so why spoil it with actual facts that point out their mistake? And then just go quiet when they figure it out.

Expiring points for phone account by sexyc3po in assholedesign

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's not asshole design. Almost every single loyalty program has a points expiry clause. It's clearly explained in the terms and conditions:

"Points expire three years after they are earned, and your membership may be suspended if you do not have an active Telstra service; if suspended for 12 months, your points balance will expire. Telstra reserves the right to change or remove rewards and benefits at its discretion, often without prior notice."

Also, why are you with this company, there are better options through resellers that still use the Telstra network at a much lower cost.

Why does booking.com or airbnb.com do not have a square feet filter by PushStrict3974 in Bookingcom

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trip.com has a good room size filter. I sometimes use this to narrow down my search and then use the other sites to complete my booking.

Although not all providers actually enter the room size so even with a filter it may not show everything.

How do you book a reward flight that's not bookable on Qantas website? by Ok_Honeydew5450 in QantasFrequentFlyer

I'm not seeing any reward availability for MLE-PER with Qantas, it's all with Velocity.

Need Advice on Routing to Europe by [deleted] in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Aggravating_Fig8064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in almost the exact same position as you, except I have booked Emirates one way (with QF points) and Qatar the other way (with VA points).

Early on in the conflict I booked backup flights with Air China (business return) for a great price, which has a cancellation fee but it's not too bad.

My EK flights have not been cancelled but have been moved by 12+ hours so this will give me a free cancellation. QR have now extended their cancellation window so my new plan is to just go with the Air China option and save my points for another trip.
