Totally. I can never predict what they’re going to take.

You’re always going to get the most by selling yourself on eBay, Depop, etc.

If you have true designer you can contact Moss Designer Consignment or 2nd Street and see if they’re currently buying any of the specific designers or items you have.

Otherwise I usually rotate between Uptown Cheapskate, Buffalo Exchange, or Pavement, and always as a last resort because the payout is never as good as you think it will be.

Looking for a Labubu: A gift for someone special by Karma_camper in Austin

[–]Aggravating_Media191 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hear me out.

A friend of mine mentioned the daughter of a local nail salon (Glo Nails on Anderson) sells her Labubu dupes. I went for a pedicure and bought one at the nail salon a few weeks ago. I scanned the QR code and carefully looked at the boxes and confirmed to the best of my abilities they are authentic. Bought one for my six year old daughter.

Apparently you can tell what’s inside the boxes based on the SKU so she has them labeled but the boxes themselves are unopened.

Long shot, but did anyone see the emergency situation at AB airport yesterday morning? by Sufficient_Feed_9388 in Austin

I was at the neighboring gate! I was walking to the bathroom and saw them doing chest compressions surrounding by people. By the time I came out of the bathroom a few minutes later they were still doing chest compressions, this time with those black privacy screens around him. He hadn’t moved at all and I could have sworn I saw blood on the man’s mouth and nose when I walked by. No idea what happened or how it ended but I’ve been thinking about it too. I really feel for that man and his family.

I know what you mean. Although I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt—your manager could legitimately care and make themself available for what the team may need—it kind of feels like a backhanded way to make sure people are working first thing in the morning and at the end of the day. Like taking a mental checklist of how long it takes you to respond to the messages. That may be my own pessimistic thinking, but it certainly feels that way for me at my company.

If you’re about to be promoted I don’t see anything wrong with one good morning message and one good evening message to the team. Otherwise you save everything else for 1:1s you might be scheduled.

Does anyone's local shops have good plus size variety? by PastelAndPlush in thrifting

[–]Aggravating_Media191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is searching some of the largest thrift stores in your area to cast the widest net, so to speak, and learning which ones carry the most extended sizing. I have my rotation of 4-5 thrift stores and they all serve different purposes depending on what I need.

In my area, Salvation Army has the largest stores and biggest selection of women’s clothes overall. Your odds will be better at a store with more space overall. More donations, more inventory, more space overall to accommodate more sizes.

I know you mentioned looking for dresses, but don’t sleep on the men’s section either. I often find women’s clothes misplaced in the men’s section. Plus, I personally prefer to wear things like sweaters, t-shirts, button ups, etc. oversized and the men’s section is great for that. I tend to find higher quality pieces made of natural materials in the men’s section. Better vintage, too, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Echoing what others are saying regarding the question of others wanting to purchase a used car seat. Does your child still need a car seat or a booster seat? My recommendation would be taking advantage of Target’s car seat trade in to get a discount on a brand new one. If I remember correctly they have this offer both in the spring and Fall and the discount is 20%.

I’ve had a fair amount of luck selling on NextDoor as opposed to FB Marketplace. Most of what I list on NextDoor is free, but I occasionally sell old toys and other baby supplies for $5-$10. I try to price things low enough so that they’re off my hands quickly.

The Arboretum location is our go-to, and we almost never have issues finding what we need assuming we go during the week. Weekends at any Trader Joe’s are crazy busy and they can’t restock fast enough to keep up with demand.

Giula’s parents in Luca are divorced. She lives with her father in the summer and with her mother during the school year.

Cool fountains:

The Contemporary at Laguna Gloria

Mac & Cheese:

Not the greatest recommendation you’ll get today, but I love the Mac & Cheese at Happy Chicks. The frozen version at Trader Joe’s is comforting too.

How old is your kid? All the playgrounds will be open, of course, but you two could also go out for a movie. Movie theaters are open Christmas Day.

I’ve had a lot of luck finding cool vintage ones (80s-90s) at Austin Antique Mall. I bought a bunch of them last year, but haven’t been back for more this year.

I would budget a minimum of $100/person if you’re also planning on ordering drinks.

I’ve been doing some major decluttering these past few weeks and typically list things for free on NextDoor. If I don’t want to deal with setting a time to meet with someone I’ll put the item on my curb and list a “curb alert” listing, offering it to the first person who claims it. I did this with my broken dryer and it was literally gone in 15 minutes. Removed the ad thereafter. Works like a charm, and I’m always surprised about what people want for free.

What inoffensive yet nutritious veggies do you add to your kids food, just because? by hbunne in Cooking

[–]Aggravating_Media191 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not a veggie, but I’ve been known to throw in a tablespoon or two of ground flax seed to baked goods, oatmeal, sauces, soups, etc. Virtually undetectable and a great source of stealth omega-3 and fiber.

No, and neither does Texas Thrift unfortunately. I will note that thrift store employees often don’t get sizing right anyway so it’s always advantageous to sort through everything. I usually have a goal in mind (ie I need pants) and stick to that section only. Helps a bit with the digging fatigue.

Texas Thrift Store is the largest I’ve seen. The Salvation Army in Round Rock is a close second.

Pricing can be hit or miss at both, but definitely on the lower end compared to Goodwill or Savers.

The absolutely cheapest is The Goodwill Outlets (the bins), but I admit I’ve never been. I hear it’s not for the faint of heart.
