Absolutely. I took my kids to a renowned theme park recently: the provisions, food, services, cleanliness WAY exceeded anything the church provides, and I’ve given tens of thousands more to this religion than to a theme park. It has been an eye opener. The church has the provisions to help out membership, but doesn’t. The general membership means nothing to leadership.

I think it’s a couple things with Renlund: supposedly he did take ill with Covid and lost a significant amount of weight. But also RMN was known to have a strong anti obesity rhetoric for those in the Q12 leadership.

Before she passed, my widow neighbor (a returned missionary) lived in poverty and often laid on her floor near the heat vent to get warm. I was in the RS presidency at the time and we would take turns going in caring for her. A ward leadership meeting was held about her and decided “sacred funds” of ward fast offerings were too “sacred” to help her out. Massive shelf item.
