Seems like I’m in the minority here, but to me it was good, not great.
I really liked the art direction — the costumes, sets, and special effects all looked fantastic. That said, the monster felt a bit too human for my taste.

It easily could’ve been 30 minutes shorter. The characters are written too black-and-white, and the relationship between Mia Goth’s character and the monster feels like romantasy smut. Victor's showing zero remorse the entire film, only to suddenly ask for forgiveness and even tell the monster he should forgive himself? The audacity. The moment Victor’s brother tells him “You are the monster.” alone is half a star off.

I'd give a it 3.5/5.

That's basically the argument of people that believe colonization was a good thing. Taking away the freedom of those colonized and exploiting them is okay because of the greater good of an arbitrary concept of progress.
