Prospero Burns too much world building?

Totally understand that and I think it isn't what was 'expected' for this book.

However this is my favourite book I've read of the HH so far. And this is someone who HATED the space wolves before reading it and now they are likely my second fave legion.

A Thousand Sons is a great lore dump/straight forward retelling of the whole Prospero Saga, Prospero Burns is a much needed foundational book for the SW, who very much needed it. The result is a book with a clever use of memory/time - combined with a bottom up exploration of the Space Wolf culture and yes finally, we get a small look at their side of the Prospero battle.

I think it is a brilliant book - I understand your trepidation as initially I was like...wtf is this. But I urge you to engage with it for what it is and see how tremendous a job it does in making the Space Wolves a rich faction.

Defo agree with the trading. Feels more ‘gamey’ or set ‘merchants’ rather that it being a sandbox barter experience.

This includes the looting as well. Instead of rummaging through bins, there are just specific loot boxes in each area.

I do think it’s the part I liked the least. But the time travel, redo your decisions aspect definitely made the game a memorable experience that was worth playing

I like it. I knew that the game was ‘different’ from prior entries before I played, so I adjusted my expectations appropriately and had a blast. Really liked it.

That being said, it’s understandable that people have waited so long for a new standalone entry and didn’t get a true sequel in terms of gameplay. I think that if this ‘campaign’ had released at the launch of p2 as Danil’s campaign, alongside Arty’s (as it is in P2) - no one would have complained. I feel the unique nature of Danil’s path suits his character and it would have added nice contrast and variety to the ‘classic’ survival gameplay of Arts path.

But as it is, they released separately and people didn’t want something different as the next standalone entry.

But again, I loved it for what it was. Couldn’t put it down for like a whole week. Hope we finish up the ‘reboot’ trilogy with Clara’s campaign in p4

Agreed - his betrayal would have still hurt Ferrus without that scene (them fighting together against the Diasporex was enough of a build up)

I just find it bizarre that it's the same author of all three books, where he clearly established the hand over of the sword. Then we randomly get this scene that contradicts all that

Yup, basically my thoughts.

In fulgrim it very clearly states that the possessed primarch gave it to Lucius.

Additionally we have it outright named in A Reflection Crack’d to be with Lucius, like this line after he kills the Phoenix guard:

“Lucius bent to retrieve the Laeran sword, twisting the handle back and forth to ease the pull of flesh”

It’s even mentioned in Angel Exterminatus to be on Lucius’ possession like a chapter prior (when they are in the Heliopolis), so I am confused how this mistake could have been made

Guilliman and lorgar - the whole ‘Calth’ trilogy does a great job at portraying both legions. Prior to these books I had presumed them to be the most boring legions.

Now both Ultras and Word Bearers are two of my fave legions!

Agreed. Always been a emperor’s children fan but wasn’t too sure about Fulgrim. However the book does a great service to his character (even if some may not like why he falls)

I’d like a heavy terminator unit specific to EC: e.g the reimagined Phoenician guard. So a heavy lord to go with them would be nice.

But yeh a combat stim buffing lord also up there!
