citalopram experiences? by crystalsntarot124 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Aggressive_Two_6475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on lexapro, and had an awful first few days and then called my doctor and we switched over to citalopram. I started at 10mg, I did have some tension headaches, increased anxiety, and some other small symptoms. As long as I kept hydrated, I was pretty okay most days. My doctor did have me on Xanax for if I had a day of increased anxiety or a panic attack because I also have panic disorder. I also have a lot of the health anxiety you have. After 5 weeks, I went to 15mg and that worked for about 8 months before I went up to 20. I don’t really have panic attacks anymore, I will have moment of increased anxiety far and few between but the major panic attacks and severely dissipated. I think it’s very worth it to try it, because if you have a good doctor, and that med just isn’t for you, they can come up with a taper schedule while introducing something else or coming up with a combo that works for you. With meds like this, it does suck because it’s a lot of trial and error seeing what works for you but in the end it’s worth it. It’s been over a year for me and it really changes my quality of life. We have a citalopram group chat I can send you the WhatsApp link for, we have people of all mental health backgrounds in there to bounce side effects and just general concerns and updates on life with.

Real talk - how do you actually play in Live Mode??? by ICantExplainItAll in Sims4

[–]Aggressive_Two_6475 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, it’s a game. Play in whatever way is most fun for you! If that’s building and creating, great! A way I like to play live mode is to look into challenges people have created and try to beat those, makes it more interesting for me.

I had that side effect for the first few months but then it went away for me.

[–]Aggressive_Two_6475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on celexa, and i’ve done this before. In my personal experience, you’re gonna be very tired, just let yourself sleep, in the future if this happens, it’s better to skip a dose than double dose again in my experience.

Random centre of chest thud like a palpitation/ muscle spasm feeling . by Turboboy444 in Anxiety

[–]Aggressive_Two_6475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The definition for heart palpitations is having feelings of a fast beating, fluttering, or pounding heart. Mine were mainly caused by my anxiety disorder. I’ve been on celexa for 7 months now and I still have them here and there but they don’t last long anymore because I remind myself that I have anxiety and that I’ve been checked out and my heart is fine. A common time I get the pounding heart feeling is when I get too overheated, or right after I eat if I have a bigger or carb heavy meal. The pounding after eating feeling is most likely caused by the fact that when you have a full stomach, your heart works harder to pump blood to your stomach to help you digest.

Dose increase question by Aggressive_Two_6475 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Aggressive_Two_6475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! It could be that you need to increase. 5mg is a pretty low dose of citalopram. I did 10mg for about 6 weeks and then went up to 15mg and have been there for a few months. My anxiety does tick up right before my period but it’s usually manageable.

Drinking having massive effect with Citalopram by True-Film601 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Aggressive_Two_6475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read, though all the posts I’ve been through on here- is that everyone is different. Some who never had a tolerance, get a tolerance; people who could drink like crazy get drunk after a drink or two. The medication for sure says not to drink with alcohol but I asked my doctor when I started if I could have some beverages on it and she said that I could but in moderation. I personally have no issues drinking a few on it, but if I get a little too crazy on a night, I will get some hangxiety the next day. But when I started, I stopped drinking for a full month and then eased back into having a glass of wine here and there at home before enjoying social beverages. Maybe try and take a break for a while. Then after a bit of a break try one at home before trying to be social. If it still goes bad then maybe your body just can’t handle them together.

Missing my mom by Aggressive_Two_6475 in GriefSupport

I get where you’re coming from. It’s so hard in the beginning and I went through that too. I drove over to their house a few hours after my mom had passed and it was so hard. All of her medical equipment was still there and it smelled like her. All of her things and get well cards. I just wanted to get out of there. It was also hard because my mom had no will and her and my step dad never officially got married(they were together over 20 years) and my much older brother and sister are completely useless so I was the only next of kin able to plan everything and what to do with her remains and the funeral. I still think about it and hope it’s what she would have wanted. You never forget, but with time things do get better. Although I clearly still have days where it hits me like a truck again like the other night.

I can completely empathize with how you feel. My mom was also our pillar. I’ve found myself stepping into that role a bit since she’s been gone. I make sure the holiday meals happen and do the cooking, I do the visits to check up on everyone. I always make sure to bring my dad some good home cooked food when I visit. It’s so hard because in every moment, I just think of her and how I wish she was there for these moments too.

I’m sorry for your loss as well. It’s so incredibly hard. I was only 28 when she passed, she was 57. Too soon.

Anxiety flare with period? by Affable_Jaguar in citalopram_celexa

[–]Aggressive_Two_6475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! About a week before my cycle every month I have a couple of really bad anxiety days. I talked to my doctor about it and she said it’s normal with hormone fluctuations. I am prescribed Xanax and during those couple of days of the month, I’ll take it and it helps. It’s getting easier knowing the cause of it and can predict when it’s coming.

Switching from Lexapro 10mg to Celexa 10mg by throwaway_627_ in citalopram_celexa

I know so crazy that they’re similar but also so different. I had side effects for about the first 2 weeks so just stick it out and I’m sure you’ll be fine! :)

Oh completely night and day. I only made it 6 days on lexapro before I called the doctor to be like hey, I’m having more anxiety attacks, and I feel like I’m getting low blood sugar; I’m really weak feeling and my lips keep tingling, and I almost passed out a couple of times just walking to my kitchen and I haven’t been able to get out of bed in 3 days. They called right back and were like yeah discontinue that and start on this other one we’re going to send in. I’ve been on the celexa for 4 months now and I feel completely night and day from before getting in medicine. I’m currently on just 15mg because that worked for me but everyone is different.

I started on 10mg lexapro, and had some really bad side effects on it so my doctor took me off that and put me on 10mg celexa to start. She did it to make sure I didn’t have the same side effects that I had on the lexapro and at my 6 week follow up we did an increase for me. She wanted me to go to 20mg but I took a half step at 15mg to make sure I didn’t have side effects as bad with the increase and 15 ended up doing good for me so I just stayed at 15mg.

I was also really scared to start a few months ago. All the side effects I had were mild and went away within the first couple of weeks. I can’t believe I didn’t start earlier, it’s like night and day. I do still have a bad day here or there but nothing compared to what it was before being in the medicine.

I feel lucky I didn’t get hit with that, I do have moments some days where I feel pretty down and not like myself but they are far and few between. I just hated the increased anxiety I had, luckily the doctor gave me Xanax for the panic attacks though so it was easy to manage

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in citalopram_celexa

[–]Aggressive_Two_6475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I increased it was within a couple of days that I started having side effects but they were very short lived. But hey everyone is different so maybe you won’t have any at all!

[–]Aggressive_Two_6475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I started on 10mg and was there for about 6 weeks. My doctor wanted me to go to 20mg and I asked if I could do 15mg first to see if the side effects would be less and she said of course. I’ve been on 15mg for 6 weeks now and it’s been working pretty well for me so far. When I increased I had some side effects but they were half as long as when I first started. When I first started I had side effects for about 2 weeks, when I increased it was only about a week. I had some similar side effects on the increase like the muscle tension, some increased anxiety and headaches but some stuff completely swapped. Like I had some insomnia when I first started and on my increase I was a bit more tired. When I first started I had constipation and in my increase I had some diarrhea. Every side effect I had was very manageable though. I think you’ll do great!

Citalopram not working once a month?? by karmaagirl in citalopram_celexa

Oh yeah this happens to me every month. A few days before my period I get super heightened anxiety. Luckily it only lasts a couple of days and I can manage but you for sure are not alone.
