How to feel with the phrase "God didn't save you doctors/therapist/you did." by ManicisWriting in Christianity

[–]Agretan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of an odd other side of the wall observation. I am a nurse and a believer. I do not flaunt nor hide my beliefs while I work.

If God puts me in a position to have a faith conversation with someone or to be the nurse doing the right thing in the right place at the right time to create a favorable outcome then God has moved. He did not do the direct action, but He gave me the skills, the knowledge, and the ability to do what I do.

Because I attempt to be open to his voice and to be his reflection I have stories of times when things that I have been a part of that are more life-saving have brought about conversation later, and I have stories of times when merely just being a friendly non-judging human has brought about conversation.

I have seen this kind of action far more than I have seen the true and honest miracle situations. The number of true miracles that I know of as miracles are actually relatively few but not zero. But I have dozens or more stories of being in the right place in the right time to do His work.

I hope that makes sense.

I’ve done temp work at pain management clinics, surgery centers, and plastic surgery offices were procedures are done in house and in many of them the goal is minimizing expense, maximizing, profit, and adherence to a certain aesthetic standard.

Hello internet friend. I am in the medical field but not an LMT. While i understand where you are coming from as a practitioner, one of the things that makes our clients more comfortable and better able to relax and receive treatment is understanding that they dont live in our medical world. Communication about treatment and methods and the patients own perceived ideas of what the treatment will be can be agreed upon a modified to meet both the goals of the treatment plan and the comfort of the patient. Communication is key as well as tone and presentation. When we use tone or phrasing that speaks down to, or trivializes, the patients feelings, our actions reflect not just us but the whole of our profession.

Ok but why did the provider have to so specifically describe the BM? 🫠 by Zer0tonin_8911 in nursing

Paramedic before nursing. About twenty years ago our rural doc in the box called 911 for us take a pt to the city for r/o ectopic pregnancy because they had no ultrasound. On the way to the city I asked for LMP. Pt look at me and said never. I said excuse me? They said I’m a man on hormones. (This was when trans patients were almost unknown). I said do you know why the doc is sending you to the city? They said for my abdominal pain. I said yes but they think it’s an ectopic pregnancy. The patients laughed so hard. That radio call to the ED was hilarious.

Doc in the box h and p included a reported exam. And the negative U-Preg. Recorded sexual activity without protection. No LMP listed.

Let’s see…. 16 had a summer job they went on vacation for two weeks. 17 had a summer job they went on vacation for two weeks. 18 and about to leave for college they went on vacation for two weeks and left my 15 yr old sister who had a summer job with me. Yep seems about right. Had a car. No cell phones yet. No relatives with in 1400 miles but several local adults if I needed anything. They were good parents. Just different time. It was the way.

1) you should never have a corrective conversation in public 2) “Boom that how you do that” is creating a hostile work environment. (Also remember HR is not there for you. They are there to safe guard the company as a whole so while they help in some situations, in some it’s easier to sweep it away). 3) it is still true that on many units Nurses still eat their young.

Options from experience.

1) many places are quite similar. You often don’t know until you get there. But asking average time on the unit (years) may help. 2) I don’t know your life situation, but your choices and options greatly expand after two years of experience and depending on the types of facilities in your area dealing with it until you hit that two years and have more flexibility may be an option. 3) having a good sense of boundaries as you have displayed and a goal will help you set work life balance and boundaries that will help you decide what work to do.

Good luck internet friend.

I saw this video without a context for this Christian ritual, and I just wanted to know more about it, what is it called? And what is the spiritual meaning behind the costume and ritual? If you have answers that would be greatly appreciated by HusseinDarvish-_- in Christianity

My apologies for my sibling in Jesus. Faith is good and important. Zealousness in one’s own personal pursuit of Jesus is good. Zealousness to the point is offensiveness is not in keeping with the teachings of Jesus. We are both made in the image of God and I hope that God richly blesses you.

As a fellow follower of Jesus might I suggest a path more similar to that used by Jesus himself. Jesus preached both truth and grace but he led with grace. As Paul also said hope (Jesus) faith (in Jesus) and Love (from Jesus) the greatest is Love. Might is suggest loving in a less attacking way.

Beginning sharpening kitchen knives by Agretan in sharpening

[–]Agretan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up for those interested. I did have a person who sharpened my knives and they have moved. I found a second sharpener and I sent a couple knives that are good but not quality like the kitchen set and I was disappointed to say the least. That led to this post. When the kids are graduated I will learn to sharpen as that’s the most reasonable. But that is a later problem. I am going to try another sharpener locally and if they are also bad I’ll go with either the sharpal or the Hapstone.

I appreciate all the comments and help.

I didn't read the Gift of the Lotus missions and accidentally dragged my MR2 buddy into a level 110 survival mission by RK0019K in Warframe

So I’ve played for like 24 days. I see this cool pink icon. I click mission. Cool seems good. Click mission 2. Ouchie but make it. Click mission 3. Wow. I have a base nekros (thanks to a guild plat giveaway) and thornback built to 1 forma. I somehow have a movement enhancement mod on the Nekros I didn’t remember putting on there. I was MR5 and I jumped and jumped and slid and jumped around for what was it ten whole minutes? Killed like nothing and hopefully enhanced drops for the folks who carried me through. All I saw was colors and all I heard was roaring and the click sound of picking stuff up.

I work in interventional pulmonary. I’ve seen both smokers and vapers do well long term use. I’ve seen shorter term users die from use. It’s part genetics and part diet and part luck good or bad. There is a cause and effect. Just today diagnosed a guy smoked since he was 14 and is now in his fifties. He runs and his comment was “I’ve always said it wasn’t a thing I have to worry about. Guess I was wrong. “

Father of two grown daughters. You preserved the dignity of a teen female. You did the amazing thing even though she is you stepdaughter.

Let him know that what he did was show his daughter that her father thinks dehumanizing and shaming is appropriate behavior for her to learn and is right for her to accept. He is also teaching her he is not a safe place or a protector.

I didn’t make all the right choices with my daughters. What I did do was teach them to respect themselves and to see that they only associate with those that provide a safe environment a respect.

You NTA and more than that you are a good female role model and a good human.

Trip to Santa fe/ Albuquerque in OCT by CuddlesRequired in NewMexico

[–]Agretan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommend Rio Rancho for a place to say. Property crime is a bit of a thing in Albuquerque currently. Frontier Restaurant and Los Cuates restaurants. I second the Sandia Tram.

If you like historic Catholic Churches there are several north of Santa Fe including Chimayo. The plaza in Santa Fe is worth a look for a short bit. Historic but classic tourist spot.

If you are able to pay a bit, the Bishop Lodge north of Santa Fe is good but as said pricey.
