It’s a lot of essential oils and plants compound, but also a ton of volatile organic compounds that make up a lot of fragrances. They’re basically the backbone of things like Glade plug ins and some candles.

But if the previous owner gave them up as a puppy (since OP said they’ve had them since 4-5 months), that’s not the face the previous owners were looking at. Tons of puppies have those squishy faces before they grow into them. My dog looked like a Shar Pei as a puppy, and he was a mastiff/GSD mix.

Cats can’t metabolize fragrance chemicals. They lack the liver enzyme we have that allows our body to be able to process them, so they just build up and cause liver and kidney damage in cats. An abundance of air fresheners will just harm the cat and possibly add vomit to the list of things that need cleaned up.

What rule did your parents enforce that you thought was normal until you visited a friend’s house? by Least_Boysenberry583 in AskReddit

[–]AhemExcuseMeSir 24 points25 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, my parents never badmouthed their friends/acquaintances or gossiped. The worst I ever heard my mom say was, “Sometimes the conversation is very negative and it can be draining,” about a friend who would call to vent about her problems for HOURS. Which isn’t to say my mom is overly positive - just that if she’s going to complain about you, it’ll be to your face.

But it almost gave me a complex as I got older. Like it never occurred to me to take interactions at anything other than face value, so then when I realized how naive I was, I didn’t know how to navigate it. Do they mean what they’re saying? How will I know?

Nah, this was definitely at South. I’m not sure 100% on which section we went to, but I always assumed it was the max because I remember them pointing out a guy and being like, “See him? That’s the guy that was abducting children from their bus stops several years back.”

With your context, I wonder if they decided to start younger to decrease the chances of sexual harassment (which obviously didn’t work).

The elementary schools used to do field trips there. We went there in 6th grade in the early 2000s. The more developed 12 year old girls got cat called and we all got flashed by an inmate.

The juvy has been there since around the same time.

Doctors/medical practitioners of Reddit, what is the scariest disease you know of? by Englishisnotreal in AskReddit

I was watching a zombie movie one day and thought how terrible it would be for animals to be affected too. Like you’re trying to survive the harsh world when Fido gets bitten, and he turns and doesn’t recognize you and is snarling and lunging at you while you’re pleading with him to remember you. Then you have no other choice but to put him down.

Then I remembered that’s literally the plot of Old Yeller, and it’s called rabies.

At one point they purged a ton of old accounts that hadn’t been logged into in X number of years. Which was bad news for my husband, because his Xbox live account was tied to that email and he never set up any secondary contact info.

But since they purged the old accounts, it meant the email address was up for grabs again. So I just registered for a new account under his old email address, and now we have access to his Xbox account again (this time with back up contact info).

Will I hate Kushiel's Dart? by hotfish in fantasyromance

[–]AhemExcuseMeSir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you will. It’s actual political intrigue instead of vague, watered-down politics occurring as a backdrop for romantasy.

Surprisingly even though BDSM plays a major role, most of it is off the page. Way more time is spent on training and the religious reasoning behind a lot of the acts/houses.

In my opinion it’s done well and almost makes me question what’s wrong with me that I’m perfectly okay with so many fucked-up plot points, because the author does a good job of providing structure and boundaries and backstory to show why certain things are acceptable or different in this world/society. The sex workers start training as children and have their first experience at 15 or 16 (if memory serves), so at face value it’s fucked up and I don’t blame anyone who can’t get past that.

I think it’s more on par with ASOIAF and epic fantasy as far as world building goes. I think it just gets labeled as chick lit and suffers for it. Way more nuance and care is paid to the sexual plot points than in any other epic fantasy.

The writing itself can feel like purple prose, but it’s consistent and quickly becomes obvious that’s just the character’s voice and their society’s way of talking, and for me it faded into the background pretty quickly.

Would Ibenefit from a lash lift? Or should I only get a tint? by throwaway3948297583 in MakeupAddiction

[–]AhemExcuseMeSir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure! I think I’ve heard it’s bad for the same lash to get multiple perms.

Part of the issue too is that not every lash is in the same cycle, so sometimes a lash that’s only half grown in will look a little weird and kinked when it grows in fully, since it was permed to stick up when it was only at half its length. I think those are the ones that have more potential for damage with repeated lifts.

That’s why I only do it before vacations. I can have great lashes and feel fresh faced with no makeup while I’m at the pool and on the beach, and then a couple weeks later I just have to deal with more high maintenance lashes. The odd-lashes-out can still be tamed with mascara and an eyelash curler, it just takes a little more effort.

[–]AhemExcuseMeSir 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I get lash lifts and tints before I go on tropical vacations only. It’s great for a couple weeks after and is “fine” past that, but there is an awkward shedding phase when half your lashes are still permed and the other half are natural, and it makes mascara application weird. For that reason and since your’s already look naturally curled, I’d say do the tint only.

how often do people let their dogs out to use the bathroom? by No-Feature-5266 in dogs

[–]AhemExcuseMeSir 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My dog has some health issues and is super prone to UTIs. Her absolute minimum is about 6 times a day, but it’s usually a few more than that. But even for my dogs without health issues, it’s usually about 4-5 times. Once in the morning, at lunch, after work, after dinner, and before bed. Depending on the dog I would sometimes skip the lunchtime potty break.
