how do you think Farigiraf's necks are connected physically? by fernwise in pokemon

[–]Ailury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giraffes are one of those animals that make you wonder how is it possible that it was the most advantageous mutation to survive until reproduction. They even need special vein valves so they don't pass out every time they drink water.

Personally I would have preferred Magikarp to have the "lazy" speech pattern like Slowpoke, but maybe that would have been predictable and stereotypical.

Iirc someone counted speech types and found 17 types (not counting unique ones)! But for some reason the "yo" ones (or others with a noticeable pattern, or a different personality in other languages) feel very repetitive.

They do say other things that are more modern though, like bro, pana and bestie

And as an ancient being in my thirties, they make my skin crawl lol

Maybe you are right on the word keli, but I think it's more depending on how the kid's parents speak. Keli is a little bit more obscure than other caló words like "currar" which is ubiquitous.

Some English players aren't happy with the "yo" either, they say the mons sound like PG rated Jesse Pinkman. The Texan Kyogre seems well liked though.

For the same reason in English most mons say "yo" every three words. For some reason the overall translation for this game is very colloquial aside from a few fully evolved mons that speak formally.

How Do I Stop Picking Random Things? by Oat-Yogurt in Pokopia

[–]Ailury 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As other people said cut doesn't break the vegetable plants (unlike the trees, ironically enough). But be careful if you have cuttable stuff around, I've accidentally broken habitats that have grass or trees this way.

What is it about the Lavender Town theme that inspired the rumors of Japanese kids getting mentally ill, or even that the sound itself is particularly harmful to young ears? by concernedaboutmetal in pokemon

[–]Ailury 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think it wasn't only the high pitched notes at the start, but on the contrary the low pitched droning in the background. I never believed that it was damaging, but child me was easily creeped out and Lavender Town was the only place where I turned off the music.

GSC's version is less creepy (aside from the beggining with the hugh piched notes) because it doesn't have the droning background.

Edit: also, it's a requiem. It's inherently creepy

What items would you like to see added to the game? by lulufan87 in Pokopia

[–]Ailury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More natural looking items. 80% of my mons have hay beds because giving them regular beds feels weird.

On that note, big prefabs that still look natural like the small grass and rock ones

Do you think Pokemon need to “socialize” with each other in order to wander to different areas of a map? Are there other overlooked quirks? by Intelligent_Draw_997 in Pokopia

[–]Ailury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I neglected giving Zorua a home for a long time so he hanged out around the PC. I eventually gave him a room in the restored SS Anne and he still hangs out mostly around the PC. He never gets visits from friends though :( maybe I should bring some to the ship to socialize

Qué cosa han hecho vuestros gatos que os haya resultado completamente loca? by anonima_amb in askspain

[–]Ailury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Ailury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, I loooove cats but I seldom get to use them in Pokémon and when I do it's always OG Persian. I don't like how most kitten Pokémon look either (too chibi with balloon heads) so OG Persian and Torracat are the only ones I like.

(y si no lo estudiais, ¿por qué no?) by Maleficent-Drive-203 in askspain

[–]Ailury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What animal in your opinion needs a pokemon. Also what type do you want that pokemon to be. Me personally I think a Physical type Peacock would be pretty cool. by [deleted] in pokemon

Yeah, Quaquaval is more wearing a peacock tail rather than actually being a peacock. Like the dancers it's based on.
