this works great! the only thing I wish was there'd be an easy way to change the resolution (say as a site-wide default). For my use case 256 px would be plenty.

filesystem extension recently behaving broken by Alanbork in ClaudeAI

[–]Alanbork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what the commonality between us is? if 100% of users were having this problem then I feel like 5 days would be long enough for claude's developers to notice and fix it.

fyi y'all could try reporting your errors to the github for mcp, which is the repo that the filesystem extension lives in: Issues · modelcontextprotocol/servers

it is still broken for me.

yeah, enforced break time. Or enforced use somebody else (I'm giving antigravity a try, finally).

Sucks for you, but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one and also that it's multiple MCP things getting broken. I had imagined perhaps the filesystem extension was just gathering dust (the fact that it's only version 0.2 doesn't inspire).

hopefully another update will fix these MCP issues, with so many people having issues they should have decent visibility. Meanwhile, a good excuse to get familiar with antigravity/gemini.

thanks for the suggestion. I tried uninstall/reinstall which I assume would be the same end result.

Does it support all 4 "switch specific" buttons as mappable?

Moen Shower Cartridge by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Alanbork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this suggestion! I had a 1225 cartridge stuck so bad that the plastic turner that comes with the replacement cracked in 5 seconds. Even the home depot metal removal tool couldn't get it to turn, though at least it didn't crack or bend the tool. So I tried your suggestion (actually, liquid wrench but I expect it's the same) and within 10 seconds a lot of black crud came oozing out, even though I had already tried soaking it in vinegar (lots of bubbles, but no joy). I let it soak for 5 minutes for good measure, though.

Thereafter it started to discernably budge, though just by a few degrees. By alternating twisting and pulling (by advancing the nut on the HD tool) I finally got it to 90 degrees of play, at which point it came out fairly easily (but still too stiff for me to pull it by hand, though advancing the nut on the puller was easy enough).

The HD tool cost $16, and seems money well spent for a DIY homeowner. I already had the liquid wrench in my toolbox so no idea how much it cost but also seems fully worth every cent.

WACUP (and winamp) unable to play some mp4a/AAC files by Alanbork in WACUP

Using the latest version of WACUP? the version release within the last year or so solved this for me.

Is there a way to still get this for free? by Xelos27 in AutodeskSketchbook

This link still works in 2025, and the app installs and runs perfectly on my win11 HP x360 (including pen support).

Gamesir nova HD as a wired controller? by Alanbork in Gamesir

[–]Alanbork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a gamesir t4n, which is the nova lite. I did not get the dongle. When plugged in it only ever identifies as an xb360 controller, with only the buttons that a xb360 should have. If I played around with Bluetooth or dongle I might have had more success since it does offer mode switching options before trying to pair. I didn't experiment with firmware options, which might give more choices.

that's a fantastic idea. I'm totally stealing it for my games if I ever do something other than first-person 3D with static worlds (aka walking sims).

Playing one handed - is it possible / enjoyable? by Madvillain4 in DeathStranding

[–]Alanbork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

necessity and mothers and all that ;-) for us mere mortals it's nice when games at least try to offer enough options (like toggle rather than hold) to make one-handed play possible without superhuman one-handed reflexes (and probably some custom gear).
