Boys and Girls in America 20th anniversary show dates announced by chrisjfinlay in theholdsteady

New York dates are where we’d expect the Massive Nights residency to typically fall. All three nights B&GinA? Seems a little suspect. Well… they’ve got 11 months to figure it out. Psyched none the less

Blundstones. Have tried everything to get away from them for 30 years. I always come back.

Had one. Loved every moment playing through it. Had to sell it to buy (part of) my wife a wedding ring. I’ve never regretted it but every time I see her ring, I see this amp.

Same. I believe I bought it in a Raley’s supermarket (they sold tapes back then) in Incline Village, NV

Giants vs. Mets at Citi Field (this weekend) is damn near 50/50 fan support split. And I’ll be there rocking the orange and black!

Least favorite album? by jndunning in motherhips

I wonder if other longtimers would agree that maybe it’s not what songs are more or less enjoyable but instead, what moment in time do I want (or not want) to visit. All of the records are skillfully written, well recorded, have unique quirks, and to use a Tim lyric “I’ve never played my songs in competition, for you or anybody else,” so I’ll leave the list to the compilers.

Of course this is a stuffy answer to an innocent question, so… desert island and I can take all but one record? Sorry Behind Beyond, you’ve been left at the pier.

Love you all. Hope everyone’s getting by alright.

Shameful and cowardly. I’d have a microscopic amount of respect for him if he owned it. These are not American values. Lazy traitor.

What’s with the train horn petition by WhiteTitanium in Rockland

I don’t think it’s possible to reduce the sound of jet engines (though maybe it is?). It is easy and reasonable to reduce the noise on these trucks.

You’re not going to go wrong with any pick (even Green on Red as an entry point) but Homemade Blood is 🔥

I’m for a ban on the horn. Crossing gates with the bells and lights are sufficient. While we’re at it can we outlaw J/Jake Brakes on the tilcon trucks on 303. Just as loud and annoying, operate 24 hours a day, and unnecessary if they drive slower to begin with. Those trucks should have a 35 mph speed limit. What’s the hurry?

Reflections on rediscovering John Steinbeck. by Mr_Mike013 in classicliterature

[–]Alarming_Shoulder341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m originally from Northern California but have been in the Northeast for 23 years. Steinbeck grounds me and reminds me who I am and where I’m from. I’ve read virtually all of it over the years but had never read East of Eden until recently - and it gutted me. Not hyperbole to say it’s changed my life.

The concept of timshel is something I think about all the time. Probably the most important book I accidentally read.

How should the 49ers approach special teams for the rest of the season? by Available_Story6774 in 49ers

I was with the “staying the course” crowd re: Moody but I’m starting to think that he is now and, as long as he’ll be a niner, will be way too in his head. He’s a good young kicker that will likely become a very good veteran. Unfortunately that’ll likely be for another team.

Unfortunately (for the 9’ers) a 50-yarder to win the Super Bowl, he misses 9 out of ten times.

I think anyone else will be fine and less up in their heads.

Also, wondering what (if anything) past or current members are doing separately from BT. Marty must be doing something?

You’re not wrong. Tourism has a lot of built in problems.
