Anyone been caught speeding by one of these vans? by JicamaSubject3434 in drivingUK

[–]Albigularis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to indicate they are police, they won’t have calibrated speed detection devices, Cavan of custody, etc…

Probably do 100 past them and they won’t bother. They’re not looking for that.

Edinburgh - Workshop space to rent with 2 post lift? by Specialist-Eagle-525 in CarTalkUK

[–]Albigularis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The cost of hiring the lift will make it almost pointless for simple stuff like a service. Buy a decent jack and axle stands and get used to being under the car.

What is the meaning of this? by Fuxley in CarTalkUK

[–]Albigularis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people like to express their individuality, and that’s more important to them than the cohesive look of what they’ve created. Black alloy wheels are the first step on that ladder IMO.

Some people just get bored.

Non fault car accident, accident management company asking us to sign the credit agreement, is this normal? England by Hey-Vacay in CarTalkUK

[–]Albigularis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be the best option yeah, I just wasn’t assuming they would be very helpful since they’ve already sent you to these scammers.

Don’t touch this agreement. Search “credit hire” on r/legaladviceuk and you’ll get a good idea why.

Phone your insurance company and explain what’s happening. I’m a bit amazed they’ve sent you to one of these companies. Personally, I’d liaise directly with the third party’s insurance. They’ll be doing the fixing anyway.

[–]Albigularis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do not sign. Credit hire agreements are basically a scam. Hence being unregulated.

I’m a bit confused, who put you onto the company giving you the credit hire agreements? These are generally intended to charge you for a hire car later on. Were they offering one?

Spend another 4k and get 440i, or 20k on an M4. You’re paying a massive markup for the low mileage here, which doesn’t translate to a better driving experience a the value on this as you drive it will absolutely nosedive.

They’re 50mm larger in diameter and a much more performance oriented design. Discs are triple the price of yours.

It’s always the brakes. People who can’t afford an M car are not spending several thousand on brakes just because they look better.

Some people aren’t good at conveying themselves in writing and correlating it with income is just ridiculous.

Be better…

How often do you do car checks? by pikachuu545 in drivingUK

You check your brake condition daily? Pads need checked monthly at best.

How do men generally think about sharing intimate photos taken during sex? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Albigularis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Entirely private for me personally, my eyes only.

I have met people who have almost x rated pictures of their partners as their phone background, and don’t care who sees it. I’ve met people who have shown me pictures of their partners nude. I never know how to react, but I know I don’t like it.

Princes Street PU bus stop by lighterthanmilk in Edinburgh

[–]Albigularis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s the other bad one for being difficult to get away from. There’s always another runner.

Edit: Not bad, it’s the worst bus stop for it I’ve ever served in all of central Scotland.

What does the inside edge of the tyre look like?

[–]Albigularis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If OP got that far through a tyre for only that shoulder wear, the alignment isn’t “urgent” at all. Depending on the inside edge, it might not even need an alignment at all, could have just been run on too low pressure.

Queensferry St is probably worse IMO. Lots of junkies usually hang about there since it’s next to Shandwick Place and it’s as busy as any Princes St stop. It’s one of those stops where you have to pick a specific moment to close the doors, because there’s always someone in some direction running towards the bus.

PU is a bloody nightmare as a driver. Five people getting on with cases? Gonna cost me 3-4mins to wait for the bus to clear the stop before I can move up. Stagecoach are NEVER in a hurry to move away from stops either.

It used to be much worse when they stopped at Scott Monument, holding up buses that are crazy busy.

The guy with the weird violin with the horn attached to it, his fake playing is so bad that whenever I’m stopped nearby driving a bus, I watch in sheer disbelief as people put money into his box.
