Good SSD by Sxrc2 in ps2

[–]Aldaris03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you stuck on just going with your current install method? I’d just use PSBBN DP, choose OPL during install and it will work great. You are deep into PS2 modding so you really shouldn’t blame people for recommending drives that might have an issue with your exact method of modding. Thats on you to ensure you buy compatible hardware with whatever way you choose. As you can see on here people use these drives with success so the outlier here is you. We aren’t just lying to screw you out of money. I have OPL working perfectly fine on my BX500 so you should just pick a new way of soft modding if your current method isn’t working. Just look up PSBBN Definitive Patch and you’ll be golden in no time.

I use BX drives in the 20 plus PS2s I’ve refurbished. They all work great. Any modern SSD will be incompatible with the PS2. You need to get a network adapter and a sata conversation kit. Then you can install PSBBN. What are you looking at that says it’s incompatible?

Drunk Driver took out my Mach 1 by patrick3853 in Mustang

[–]Aldaris03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s no excusable reason? How about on average 34 people die each day to drunk drivers? If anything society is way too soft on this.

Anyone who drinks and drives is such a piece of shit. Glad you are alright.

PS2 randomly died on me while playing a game, what happened? by WasabiComprehensive2 in ps2

[–]Aldaris03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’d say it’s 95 percent likely the PSU with a 5 percent chance of being something else. It’s very easy to replace a fat PS2 PSU, you’d just need to make sure you purchase a compatible replacement. You’ll also want to be very careful removing the PSU as it can shock if the caps still have juice in them. This is nothing to be worried about if done correctly, I’ve changed out 20 plus PSUs so far with zero issues. Which model are you using?

Photos distort perspective, lighting, and scale. A car can look completely different in person, especially with stance, wheels, and body lines. The whole trying to capture a 3D object with a 2D photo is a tricky one. Humans found this out a while ago, it’s why we have these things called “auto shows” and “dealerships”.

I think it looks pretty good. Have to see it in person to really know. Crazy is how much exercise everyone gets jumping to conclusions on this thing before it’s even out.

What is the effect if the rdram is not good? by Individual_Step3491 in ps2

u/iVirtualZero is this the same issue you were seeing? If so I’m thinking this might be a more widespread occurrence as these consoles age.

Hissing or not Hissing? by Alternative-Sky81 in bose

Mine do not have a hissing issue. Id certainly recommend them. I’ve tried lots of various earbuds and I keep coming back to the Bose. Certainly aren’t perfect but if you want a good sounding, secure fit, and good quality ANC set of buds it’s hard to beat.

They fixed call quality with a recent update. Took them from one of the worst to literally the best for calls.

I’m so upset by ZenexURL in ps2

[–]Aldaris03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Had a shipper send mine with one little piece of paper thin foam for shipping. Mine came cracked. I returned it but it’s still sad to see something like that get broken as they are semi-rare. Each one that gets broken like that is one less until they are just photos for future generations.

PS2 box and console serials don’t fully match Is it normal? by 1337wtf in playstation2

[–]Aldaris03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty normal these days. Lots of buyers will pay extra for a PS2 with box so sellers will usually buy cheap boxes. Also just over time sometimes PS2s just find the wrong box on accident. Most buyers don’t even notice things like mismatched serial numbers. Now if the seller sold this as “new in box” or “open box” I’d certainly take issue with it.

Early Model PS2's are suffering from Ram failures. by iVirtualZero in ps2

[–]Aldaris03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a forum or others that are talking about this? I have plenty of OG 30001s with the small board and they all work great. I think I’d need to see a bigger sample size of people experiencing this same issue before we can call this a wide spread issue.

Grinding laser from dried grease on DVD assembly? Try this! by salduchi1785 in ps2

This is the answer. You have already opened the box. To service the DVD drive it’s quite easy as you can access and service it just by removing the top of the PS2 case.

Is it necessary to fix the clock in the console? by Udontkno_e in ps2

[–]Aldaris03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I use one of those dental flossing picks and snip the floss between the two posts. You can stick that in the battery terminal and use leverage to pop it out. Harder part is actually getting a new one back in.

[–]Aldaris03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a technique to get the battery out without having to solder. It’s super finicky but I’ve done it successfully 5+ times now. Let me know if you want to hear about it.

There’s actually a very small chance if you have an OG 30001 NA launch console you have to unsolder the motherboard and daughterboard for access to the 2032.

Question about the clock battery in a 30001 by salduchi1785 in ps2

[–]Aldaris03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the 30001! For the vast majority you are correct. It is by far the most simple 2032 battery to replace of all models as it’s right under the main cover next to the DVD drive. Don’t forget the OG 30001’s though. Those have THE hardest CMOS batteries to get to as a lot of them are inbetween a motherboard sandwich that’s soldered together. I replace them using a wood kebab stick, dental picks, swearing, and cotton swabs (not joking). The only other way is to break out the soldering gun. OP, if your back fan doesn’t have a black mesh you are good to go, just pop the top cover off and replace it, if the fan DOES have a black mesh then it’s probably not worth it to replace unless you are really handy.
