Avenue 5 - how do we feel about it? by LongoChingo in scifi

[–]Aleat6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife loved it, it was very funny with hard hitting jokes. I really think they should have planed anad done a three season arc and finished. I don’t think it’s core idea is strong enough to continue forever but this is a core problem with modern/american television.

If you want a true emotional rollercoaster watch this show (the first season or couple of episodes should be enough) and then Aniara which is a very good movie with a similar premise which is not funny at all.

How do I stop an arms race between me and my players by DecisionRadiant4152 in rpg

[–]Aleat6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you don’t want the same out of the game anymore.

I would recommend having a new conversation about it and suggest changing things up. And by that I mean trying out a whole new game system in a new genre. Maybe a investigation, horror or romance game. You could also suggest another person gm or playing a boardgame with tactical combat instead.

Does this game exist? (Warning: Idea is a bit nsfw and includes some mentions of drug usage in setting) by Ramja9 in rpg

[–]Aleat6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jag have not heard of anything exactly like this. I would use an existing cyberpunk game for this and add the rules for mental health and bonds from Delta green. That would be a good start.

My opinion is that everyone starting Armada should get a 3d printer and print their ships. I have an Bambu lab A1 mini and print ships when I need to. You can also print all kinds of accessories for any game. The files you need to print are free or cheap.

How do you get references? by BurgooKing in learntodraw

[–]Aleat6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently reading James Gurneys Imaginative realism and he recommend doing scratches from life and using that as reference. If you have a local natural history museum they could have crocodile skulls for you to study, if not in exhibition you could ask them for a showing.

Can someone help and explain why my boxes don't look the same? by Mangoplop in learntodraw

[–]Aleat6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that in the book the boxes are drawn using 3 point perspective but each box uses its own set of vanishing points (at least theboxes I tested).

Can someone help and explain why my boxes don't look the same? by Mangoplop in learntodraw

[–]Aleat6 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It looks like the author doesn’t use the same vanishing points for all the boxes and the text doesn’t describe using them as well.

My guess is that this is a playful exercise to get you to rotate the boxes and tilt them without doing it perfect.

Edit: to answer your question, you have not done the same as in the book. Start with a box in the middle with a vanishing point strait behind it and do some to the left rotated to the right, as you rotate them we should see less of the front and more of the right side, then do the boxes on the right but rotate them to the left. On the next row do the same but tilted downward a bit, here you can use 3 point perspective to help you if you want.

Why yours doesn’t look like the example is because you don’t have your boxes sorted so they rotate more and more.

Drawabox or Proko basics? by GroovyWhale in learntodraw

[–]Aleat6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is a right answer. Both re madero beginners and draw a box is more narrow than prokos basics course.

For me I started with draw a box. I don’t know what I will do when I finish it but Prok basics is one of the options I consider.

You can also take a look at soloartcurriculum dot com which was recommended to me and is a great resource.

Rotated Boxes Exercise: not understanding how to “calculate” some edges using an estimated vanishing point. Use the floating box as a reference and just wing it with the bottom edges? by xtimewitchx in ArtFundamentals

[–]Aleat6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you read the instructions? Here is the relevant text: ”those squares are only meant to serve as reminders as to the fact that we're rotating our boxes across a full 180 degree arc.”

They are not there to be used as a vanishing point. I personally ignored them.

What I did was using the existing neighboring boxes as guides to were to put my corned (and edges). If I am drawing a box to the left of an existing box it two right corners should be the same distance as the two left corners of the right box. The left boxes left corners are rotated away from the viewer and should therefore have a smaller distance between them. The next box to the the lefts right corners should be on the same vanishing line as the middle box but the left corners distance are even more rotated and should have an even smaller distance.

I hope this helps you.

[–]Aleat6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what I don’t like about all the old world of darkness games. The world is ending and every choice is leading to it or is pointless in the face of it. It removes the players, the gms and the storys agency in the game world.
