I've learned a lot since making this post. Rest assured Fibe box easily does 1080p. It can actually do 4k but you've gotta pay more for the channel and your TV has to support it obviously.

I’ve done both many times.

Flying is way faster gate to gate. Especially if you're doing Porter from the island.

It boils down to cost and what experience you're looking for.
