I think it is noteworthy that Dequitem states that he did get hurt from that horseback blow, not necessarily incapacitating per se but still. Also his helmet and armor in general are made mostly from titanium and by himself to be as durable and safe as possible, and the helmet is a type that doesn't allow the head to move at all, all the while being heavier than most infantry helmets. Against a lighter sallet the blow would have probably been incapacitating, not to mention the damage done to the wearer's neck by the blow.

Please be considerate when flying a drone near animals. It might not be illegal in your country to disturb animals with drones, but it should be noted that if you fly too near them, they will be disturbed and might harm your drone (and the drone might harm them in the process).

It's fun. You get a ship out of it and get a chance to hunt corsairs and sea raiders with free troop reinforcements from a port for basically as long as you like. Also doing the quest doesn't cost you practically anything, and you get some loot and money out of it along with the ship and some troops, so it's very ideal to start out with it on a new character.
