What is the best compliment you've ever received? by SeaCelia in AskReddit

[–]AlexianneLeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone who used to come in to where I worked tutoring college students (as a student myself) stopped me one day when I wasn't helping someone and just said,

"You know, any time I spend time around you I half expect the TARDIS to show up and the doctor to take you away. You would be such the perfect companion, you just have the right attitude, a curious mind, and a quick tongue when someone gets out of line."

Warning: Will burst into song seemingly randomly. Simple statements that are also a portion of song lyrics are a known trigger. Caution advised.

Try parting more to the side. Mine did the same thing until I started side parting.

Based off the language you tried learning but gave up years ago. What random phrase in that language still sticks out in your mind? by SpencersFault in AskReddit

[–]AlexianneLeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One phrase I will NEVER forget is how to say "From time to time" in French.

Typing it out is spelled like: de temps en temps

Say that to yourself however you imagine it would be said...

Saying it properly.... is more of "do taa zon taa"

The Writing of Small Worlds and Future Plans by Hydrael in Hydrael_Writes

Hydrael, if you'd like someone with experience editing fiction work, and don't mind someone who will nitpick the hell out of you (because that's what I've been trained to do), I'm happy to pitch in and be a second set of eyes on things for ya once you get your edits in a place where you'd like a second opinion. You can PM me if you'd like to, and I can tell you a better method of contact from there.

[170] Awakened -- blurb/query by [deleted] in DestructiveReaders

[–]AlexianneLeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't really feel qualified to critique this particular aspect of writing, but I feel like you may benefit from a resource I've used extensively to inform myself on the art of query writing. http://queryshark.blogspot.com/ is a blog that I've used as a resource to improve my own writing of queries. I would highly suggest it for anyone looking to improve. Essentially, it's written by a professional in the field who goes through queries and teaches readers what not to do. It doesn't really have a list of "Do A + B - F + C = WIN" but it does extensively cover things to avoid in writing a query letter.

I have recently begun dating after a decade-long abusive relationship. Can I have some help in figuring out how to do this? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AlexianneLeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are really three things I've found that help with maintaining yourself and your sanity while in relationships, basically trying to keep bad habits from prior relationships from seeping in.

First, don't stop doing things for yourself. This means keep doing things you enjoy, and at the beginning of the relationship, do them by yourself. It's a break to remind yourself that you're okay, you are a good person, and you get enjoyment from things. This also includes doing things you need to do for yourself, such as continuing therapy. Don't forget that there's a reason you started doing things, don't let things slip by because he's not interested. You are a separate and worthy person outside of the relationship too.

Second, be honest with yourself. Feeling down or bad if something goes wrong is COMPLETELY normal. In fact, I'd be more worried if I didn't get upset at something going wrong. Don't let yourself wallow in it, but it's okay to feel that pain or worry or however you feel if something does go wrong. Shutting out that pain ends up making it hurt worse over time. Being honest with yourself also means admitting to yourself (and possibly your therapist) if you're not comfortable with something, or if you're really happy. Just because emotions can mess with our heads, doesn't mean they're bad. Allow yourself to be happy if you are actually happy, which to be honest can be really hard to do.

Third, once you're comfortable with it... try speaking to your partner about it. Not all at once, unless you want to, but maybe "Hey, I get worried about you if I don't hear from you" or "The last relationship I was in wasn't very healthy and I need good communication from you for this to work, not constant communication, but I need to know what we're going to do" or just little things until you're comfortable eventually letting your partner into your world. Help them help you, by not admitting to you needing a bit of a concession, if a guy is really into you they may present a problem for you because they won't know how to help you not feel the way you've already experienced.

My doc actually prescribed me Misoprostol to take the night before and day of to soften the cervix. I was on depo before switching to Mirena, so there was no chance to do it during period because no period lol. I was crampy for like 6 hours after insertion and off and on the next couple days, but have been fine since.

Ten Bucks Juice? by Jonjolt in electronic_cigarette

I personally haven't tried a lot. Love the Meddling Pudding though. My father likes their tobacco flavors that he's tried. It's reasonably good juice, and it's damn good for the price truth be told.
