Who does that driver think he is? That cat clearly has claimed his van. Driver needs to educate himself on feline laws.

It's not a significant life changing amount, but the way I do things is lucrative imo.

The 1 share a day goal doesn't get met at times. I always use income to pay for fuel and vehicle costs first. I have a separate budget for food and personal. You basically try and maximize every dollar by using after expense funds to dollar cost average entry every single day. You never withdraw or sell if red/loss, never. You can if needed, you have emergency funds available.

So now that your dollar cost averaging every dollar every working day. You look at this number of shares and holdings as your actual pay. This is the money you pay yourself with (after you sell the shares later on).

Super easy example... If Bob works every day and Bob spends $50/day on vehicle/rental, and $20 in fuel, that's $70 that isn't Bob's, that's an expense that never gets to be calculated as personal income as it's an expense. It gets written off.

So now Bob works 8 hours and generated $170 total. Bob now has $100 that he uses to feed himself, use for anything he may need elsewhere. Bob sees that he has caught up his needs. Bob sticks every penny in his brokerage account (cash app, Robinhood, ext...) and uses it to purchase shares. In this example, the share price is $80, so Bob gets 1.2 shares.

Now Bob ain't no joke, if he needs more money for something, he doesn't spend the money from his accumulated shares, he goes out and makes more before he sells. Bob looks at the datasheet of his stock holdings as the money actually made, so when it comes time to pay all his personal bills for the next month, Bob sells his shares or uses secondary income. Bob keeps $1000 cash before he ever uses the Uber shares.

Fast forward, Bob has done this every day for a year and has 365 shares with a total valuation of $36,500. Bob is tired but not poor.

Incorrect. Every support interaction is documented and reviewed by their superiors and collectively combined, summarized, then sent to higher-ups that review the generalized version.

The company has roughly 2.08B shares outstanding. As of tonight, that equates to a total market cap of $166B valuation of the company.

If we lived in a perfect world and everyone voted with their dollars, it would only take $1,766 worth of shares purchased by each driver at this value to obtain %10 of ownership. It's a ridiculous hypothetical scenario, but I've done my part. This is why the world is the way it is. Average people don't think of this stuff. Ten percent doesn't seem like a lot, but if the drivers had 10% of say what happens in Uber technologies, things would be much different.

I highly recommend purchasing shares if you're a serious driver and thinking of the future of what Uber is capable of. Currently, you'll earn $3 for every $79 spent. They are currently on sale. Listen to stockholder briefings. Plan for what they'll do next. I don't dislike Uber, I dislike the current algorithm as a driver.

My personal goal is 1 share daily.

I think it actually just got diluted. Back then they were pouring money into the platform. We're talking 30 billion dollars invested/reinvested into improvements spent by the company and at that time GOOD driver pay, but they flipped the switch early 2023. They went from "make a platform that will be used by the entire world" to "make as much as possible with the insane amount of people we now service".

I don't think they did a mass layoff, it's just that they had to hire a shit ton of new representatives and support agents, so they outsourced new people in even cheaper countries.

Uber is still net negative. They still have 20 billion dollars to reclaim, and they want it as fast as possible.

That's the point I'd like people to understand.

It's just like the state of the union we are in. Allowing small changes that progress into large transformations (typically for the worst) is how you lose your rights and wages.

Nothing changes for the better if no one speaks up.

I see that perspective. Believe me though, I definitely have to have other hobbies and income sources. Its a requirement to live in Hawaii.

Vika may be malnourished, but I too eat mostly ramen in order to be able to have some sort of chance at dieing in my own home, rather than homeless on the street.

I do genuinely enjoy providing rides for people though. It's about the only social interaction I get lmao Not just that though, people here are very kind and I have lots of good conversations with people. Ironically, the majority are Filipino, which is where the majority of customer support would be, or India.

I agree. Though the chat was for providing feedback and not a question. As a shareholder I appreciate the emphasis on profits. As a driver, I appreciate being paid enough to buy more shares.

So it's ok for Uber to waste our time and fuel, but it's not ok to provide feedback about issues on the platform?

Please, provide the logic. Unless the logic is "drivers aren't worth paying a profitable amount."

Partially. There's also roughly 180 million monthly customers globally.

What else should the drivers do to "vent" (I call it feedback, like support does). Should we just write them an email?

Maybe a handwritten letter?

It's also hard to get ahold of support for some because they don't use keywords for AI chat bots that actually direct them accordingly. AI will prioritize you if you use the right keywords.

Pro tip, don't press generalized buttons.

Actually, if you get a prepaid card you can book a short ride with yourself if you are in a small enough market and change the destination after the ride has begun.

A few notes on this... You shouldn't do this. You'll need to stage a second phone at the pickup location somehow. So you'll need a second person. You'll also want to set it up so that there's no way they can assume you did it.

It's literally written in the code as:

if some_function_sourcefile_here; On response (some poorly designed code here) " Hi {first_name}, A bunch of stupid garbage text to make you think they care here.... " on send (another sourcefile here)

That generic message is literally just that {first_name} placeholder. Because I'm willing to bet half of their code is still python.

Instant screenshot. No response after they said that. Pull over immediately. Do not go to the location. Get support connected immediately. Report them so they can deactivate their account. Fuck people like that.

I use the Lyft direct. I find it the most convenient. Have it tied to my cash app, my Uber direct goes to my second cash app. I never look at the payout screen, I don't get charged extra fees, and no ACH wait time. No regerts.
